For those who think I am totally deaf, I am not, I am hard of hearing, just deaf in one ear.

Question was this: What item do you own that speaks loudest about who you are as a person or an individual?

I actually have several items together in one thing that I collect. The things that I collect represent the person and what it is stored in, in my room, represents the individual.The person this is representing is myself.This is how I see myself.
I collect Angels. I have about 45-65 of them at the moment.They are just beautiful and yet a few are kind of ugly to be honest! Not all of God’s angels are pretty though!
An angel represents many things to me as I see into myself. An angel is “Of God”. I believe I am a child, “Of God”. Some angels, hopefully, play music and sing in the heavenly chorus. I would not mind singing and playing the piano myself in Heaven!Yes, I would make a good heavenly chorus angel, if needed! Angels are dedicated to God! Throughout all my illnesses and current chronic ones, I have wavered, but my FAITH has remained strong! I could have never have survived without it!
These angels are on thin glass though, and I have to be very careful when dusting and putting them back on the shelf. I believe what I am trying to say is angels take grandiose risks everyday. Saving our lives, for instance.
The whole kit-n-caboodle of angels is in a fine curio cabinet that my Mother got at a garage sale for about 3/4th’s off the normal price at a regular department store!I was so excited when she got it! That and mainly I was running out of space in my room because all my angels were taking up the place! (grin) It is a handcrafted piece of furniture, with glass on all sides. So, you must be careful! It has a door on the front and wood on top. It reminds me of me; breakable yet strong. Mother got me cheap but I am worth every damn dollar!

i am hard of hearing myself; caused by my prematurity (as is my low vision); it is a headache at times, but i am fortunate just to be alive! wonderful story, rebecca, thanks for sharing!

Dale Evans wrote the best book on the subject of the handicapped. My aunt was deaf but she was a beautiful soul. Her favorite line was that she would rather see a sermon than hear one.
