just couldn't do it
with poetry
tonight is my last night at "home".
mom died. dad did too.
what do you do?
60 years in the same house.
married 65 years.
i been here off & on. i be the son of a gun.
but, tonight is my last night at "home.
movin' out... movin' on.
got me a little place temporarily right down the street. who know's who i might meet.
the house is all gettin' fixed up, i got mixed up emotions.
i lay down tonight, knowin' it's my last night at "home". couldn't sleep. thoughts were too deep. then i felt them, saw them, mom & dad, lookin' down sayin' "it's ok, son. you done your best. you did what you could. you did what we hoped you would...not always what you should...but what you could.
you stayed with us, took care of us. you let us die at "home". thank you.
sorry son, for what you've given up, if it was up to us, you would never have lost so much.
son, it's only a house.
"home" is where the heart is.
and your heart is so big, it'll live wherever it is.
and son, seek a "home" of your own.
smile, write, paint...
find your heart.

This is very sad to read. But it's so true. "Home is where the heart is." You'll always be "home", and with your parents, as long as you have memories. I'm sorry for your loss, April
The true story of Cheryl Pierson Cuccio who made headlines in 1986 and her husband Rob Cuccio. Cheryl was abused sexually and physically and Rob died for 43 minutes on Cheryl's 43rd birthday.
She never felt safe at home as a young girl, and didn't understand why when she finally escaped she wasn't safe in the big wide world either ...effectively jumping out of the frying pan into the fire!
