‘All houses are haunted. All persons are haunted. Throngs of spirits follow us everywhere. We are never alone.”

Casey’s plane landed at New Orleans International
Airport . It had been a smooth flight. She found her
luggage, grabbed her rental and made it to her
hotel with no major problems. She called her realtor
to let her know that she’d made it and had arrived
at her hotel. She and Amy, her agent, agreed to
meet for breakfast at the hotel at 8 am the next
morning and then to take a ride out to the house.
Casey was too tired from the plane trip and from all
the things she’d done before taking the plane to
really get excited. She knew that would change in
the morning. She took a long hot shower, got into
her big tshirt and a fresh pair of panties and
crawled into the big comfy looking bed. Before she
could even turn off the bedside light, Casey was
asleep. She had no dreams, her sleep was deep and
peaceful.
The next morning, she hopped back into the
shower. Going to bed and sleeping on wet hair does
NOT make a great hairdo. In fact, she looked like
the bride of Frankenstein. NOT a pretty picture at
all! It was 8:12 am when she rushed into the dining
room. Amy, already seated, was waiting for her.
Amy laughed as she saw the expression on Casey’s
face. Before Casey could apologize, Amy told her
that she was in the South now...rushing was not
something that they did here. They both laughed
and after perusing the menu, decided to go with
the breakfast buffet. So many choices!
After a huge meal, Casey was ready to roll back
upstairs, but instead, she and Amy went out to
Amy’s minivan and soon they were whizzing down
the highway towards this poor neglected house.
Casey was so excited she almost was bouncing in
her seat. Amy was amused at her client. “We have
another 50 minutes of driving, why don’t we
discuss how you are going to handle the auction.
They have to be paid with a cashier’s check within
three days of the end of the auction. Will that be a
problem?” Casey assured Amy that this would not
be a problem. “So, how high do you want to go?”
Casey and she discussed this and other things the
rest of the way to the property.
Amy turned in between two large pillars onto a
gravel road. Well, it used to be gravel....maybe. It
was rutted and they had to slow down as they
bounced and bumped their way down the long
driveway. The driveway must have been a mile long
before the high weeds began to fade back from the
road. It looked like they had come to the point
where the grounds had been mowed. Casey leaned
forward, gripping the dashboard in front of
her...breathless with anticipation.
It was almost anticlimatic when the house came
into view around the bend of the road. It rested on
a sea of emerald green that was closely clipped and
Casey was certain, spongy, when experienced by
bare feet.
It had stood there for centuries. It had existed in
