Look for Your Two Things
Did you ever wish for something extra special for Christmas? As a young child when I knew my dad was going to go blind, I always wished it wouldn''t happen. I wished he could always see my mom, my brother, and me. Also, to see the birds flying, the trees gently blowing in the wind, the cars passing on the road, and so many more things that we all take for granted. After all, he always worked before he went totally blind and gave us everything we needed. He was a good man who believed in God.
One day, as I knelt down beside my bed to say my prayers, I asked God, why he took my dad''s sight away. He did no harm to anyone, and I never received an answer. Not once.
When I was twelve, there was a fire that started on the stove and my dad''s sense of smell and hearing enhanced to compensate for his blindness. He smelled the burning and he heard the crackling coming from the stove. He couldn''t see how bad it was to attempt any form of rescue. My mom was outside of the house hanging clothes on the line, and she forgot the stove was on. She worked hard every day and had many things on her mind when she began cooking supper and hanging clothes.
My dad screamed for my mom. She, along with my brother and I, came running inside. When she saw the fire, she yelled, "Oh my God, help me," and she put it out quickly. My mom was brave at that moment and surely saved our home from total destruction. My brother and I were too afraid of fire to go near the stove, and my dad couldn''t see how big the fire was.
After we all cried, and our nerves had calmed down, I heard a voice say to me... "I never take one thing away from anyone without giving them two things in return."
Instantly, I knew it was God talking to me.
I just knew it was. I had prayed for an answer.
From that time on, I always looked for two things that God leaves when he takes away one thing, and I always found it.
Miracles always come in twos. We think it''s one miracle at a time, but it''s two.

Thanks Santa
Merry Christmas in His Name!

In a way, though, I suppose the bad caused some good because about two months ago, thinking I would be okay, I almost hit a police officer on a motorcycle and actually could have killed him... Of course I got a ticket for driving in the bicycle lane where he was waiting... As it turned out for me.
When I got home I took myself off all car insurance and if I can figure out how to do it, in this shutdown, I will turn my driver's license in.
Every day I thank God that I did not hit that man.
Merry Christmas to you!
