A reflection on current events and the initiated… From another dream enhanced.
I am Joseph B. Peabody III. Call me Joe. I've got a long family tradition to uphold going back to the Revolutionary War. But, I was a rebel in high school. At an in-group party held at a fraternal order clubhouse several of our fathers belonged to, I got drunk to where my eyeballs were floating one night. I rushed into the men's room to take a leak. Another guy, who I didn't know from another exclusive boys' school, dropped into the next urinal. As I was gloriously relieving myself, and he was doing the same, I felt his hand on my ass and returned the favor. For some reason it felt very good.
I seem to remember that we walked out together. We drove to his father's secluded cabin retreat and started into the stash of liquor there. Three days later I woke up, naked with our legs entwined and my butt was very, very sore. Now, I am not a Homo. I'm a true blue American son. I don't believe in that stuff. So I buried that experience as deep in my psyche as I could and left it there. Married my high school sweetheart and all the rest. Got all the privileges that good breeding and position offered. They say that, "Boys will be boys." But this boy never wanted to be that boy. And if anybody asks me, I will say I don't remember and I'll never do it again. I wonder if he remembers? Sure hope they don't ask him.
Once, while walking with my girlfriend during the summer of 1967 in the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco, having a good time and enjoying the sights like a guy in a green dyed jockstrap with feathers and some makeup as well as many hippies and beautiful people, something really strange happened.
I had my arm around the back of my girlfriend as we walked together. Suddenly, I felt someone grab my hand and hang onto it. I thought perhaps my girlfriend had reached around her back to grab onto my hand. So I hesitated a minute, but finally looked around behind and there was a guy holding onto my hand with a big smile on his face. I jerked free and gave him one of those looks. He continued smiling and drifted off in the crowd.
