Dear Kendra:
I am so happy for you; how you have waited for this special time! Tomorrow you will gain a new daughter, and your new daughter will gain a new family here in America! I can't imagine how excited you must be; I only hope that all goes well as you come to pick up your daughter tomorrow!
My kids are all happy for you, too; they are already thinking of writing to Anna when she comes; so be prepared for an influx of mail from my kids!
We all had fun in Alaska; but it is so nice to get home! We have really missed the other kids; and we have missed seeing our neighbors and our friends! I have also missed going to work; and I am kind of looking foward to getting back to the hospital!!
Today we are relaxing, and I am sitting here, trying to make heads and tails of this new album that we picked up at the store yesterday. Loretta Lynn recorded her brand new album, "Van Lear Rose", but it is nothing like the albums she has done in the past. Loretta Lynn is as country as they come, but this album is anything BUT pure country. There is a lot of rock and roll influence in it, and as I am sitting here listening to this thing, I keep thinking, "This CAN'T be the 'Coal Miner's Daughter!' ", yet, as I hear her familiar Kentucky twang, I realize that it IS; and I am sitting here, somewhat disappointed, but yet curious as to what the rest of the album will be like! LOL The leader of the rock band, "WhiteStrypes" (or whatever their name is! LOL), Jack White, has been a fan of Loretta Lynn's for a very long time (so I have heard), and he has always wanted to do an album with her; so the two finally got together, and "Van Lear Rose" is their effort. Yet, it is so different, and I am still wondering what Loretta has managed to get herself into because what I hear now on this album and what I have heard from past efforts by Loretta is altogether different. It's akin to the Coal Miner's Daughter singing rock and roll; that is how I perceive this album!! LOL I may not like it all that much, but my daughter, Ronee', apparently does; she is sitting here, beside me, singing along to the songs; and from the way she is beboppin' her little head in time to the music, it is obvious just how much she likes it! She likes a little bit of everything, be it country, rock, rap, gospel, even blues and some jazz! The album is okay, but it IS a bit TOO loud for my ears, and I just hope that it isn't ALL like this, or I just may end up giving the CD to Ronee'! She can have it! I don't want it if all the cd is rock sounding! LOL
We have been fans of Loretta Lynn's for a very long time; and we can't count how many times we have seen her in concert; but I just wonder what her older fans are going to think when they hear this album or if she decides to sing some of these songs out on the road..she just may have some angry people to deal with! I have heard both favorable and some not so favorable response regarding this album, so I decided to see what all the buzz was about; so I got this album, and now, as I listen to it, I am inclined to say that I am NOT so sure what I think about it!! This is why I am thinking of giving this album to Ronee' if I end up not liking it!! LOL
Bill took the older kids to a movie, and Ronee' and I are sitting here, listening to this album, and the younger kids are playing quietly in their rooms as I write this. Ronee' didn't want to go to the movies because she wanted to listen to the "Van Lear Rose" cd, and I just wanted to be a lazy bum and take it easy until the kids (and Bill) come back; and then I will have to get busy and get the kids ready for supper and get the food on the table. Tonight it is beef stroganoff with noodles, a garden salad, and potatoes au gratin.
Well, Kendra, I am afraid that I may have to make this short...Bill and the kids just came back; and so that means I have to get supper on before I have a crew of ravenous monsters who may eat me out of house and home! That may not be a good thing...LOL I will write more soon!
