Even though he didn't compete, American swimmer, Michael Phelps won his EIGHTH medal! :)
He DID it! America's Michael Phelps, young swimming phenom, has just shattered the most medals ever won in one single Olympics! He won his EIGHTH consecutive medal today when his team won the 400 medley relay! (He didn't compete, but he won because he qualified in an earlier heat, so he was eligible to win a medal. In this case, he got GOLD!)
This is Johnny. I am watching the Olympics on BRAVO tv, and they just showed it on the tv, and of course, I went NUTZ! I didn't go to the festival today because I was more interested in watching the Olympics; I wanted to see Michael Phelps and company win a medal! They did, too, in fine fashion, and now we have added more medals to our total, making us the nation with the most medals in the Athens Summer Olympic Games! (Mom, daddy, and the rest of the kids are at LeCajun, watching the Cajun acts there, but I stayed home. My dog, "Ginger", is with me, as is my grandma, so I am not alone! If I should get into trouble, both "Ginger" and grandmere' know what to do, so don't worry!)
My mom thought I was weird in wanting to stay home, but I told her I wanted to see Michael Phelps win his possibly eighth medal, and there was NO way I was missing it; so I stayed home. I am glad I did because I witnessed sports history in the making, and now we are going to be celebrating tonight!
GO USA! GO, Michael Phelps and company! WOO!! WOO!! WOO!! You done good, boys; you struck GOLD yet again! You guys ROCK!!! :D

Karen, I like the way you put the news in your story about a young boy who's really interested in the Olympics. Nice story as always.
