A man in Greece writes Louisiana Sandusky in America after he meets a friend of hers who is at the Olympics. He has a sister, Athena, who lives in Tennessee, and he has just found out that she has been shot and is now lying paralyzed in the hospital. He is understandably angry and grief stricken.

Dear Ms. Sandusky:
I send you greetings from Athens, Greece.
You do not know me, but I met a friend of yours (Sari Annike Gustaffssenn, who lives in Finland, but she has met you before when she was in America) who is at the Olympics, and she told me a lot about you; and upon hearing about you, I felt compelled to write to you.
My name is Nikolas Constantinos. I am a 30-year-old contractor from Athens, and I have lived here all my life. I have a younger sister, Athena Helene, who is ten years younger than me, and she is living in America, in Tennessee.
I am wondering if you know anything about my sister, Athena Constantinos. She lives in Nashville, and I am wondering exactly what happened. I just received word that she was shot, and now she is in hospital, where she is possibly dying. Is this true ? If so, I must make immediate arrangements for me to fly to America, so I can be with my sister before she dies. I heard that she was running (she is training to be in the 2008 Olympics to represent your country of America), and somebody shot her as she was running. What is exactly the situation? I heard the news, and I have been sick with worry and grief; I can't understand why things of this nature must happen, and I can't understand why it is my sister is the one who now has to suffer! I got a call from a doctor named William Stryker, and he was the one who told me about my sister. He said her injuries were very serious, and she is now paralyzed. Ever since hearing the news, it is all I can do to keep from crying!
Please tell me the truth about my sister. I need to know, so I can make the proper arrangements and fly to be there with her! Thank you for listening to me.

Powerfully sad letter story, Karen; and I do know someone who was shot while merrily out jogging. Luckily, his wound was superficial, but an extremely frightening ordeal nonetheless.
