My Life as a Cow
by Earnest Brant Mercer
Monday, September 13, 2004

Rated "G" by the Author.

A fantasy about the very unusual life of a cow and her human playmate.

(This fantasy story was originally written by H. Brant Mercer, son of Earnest Brant Mercer who performed superficial editing to the story written when H. Brant Mercer was 13 years old)

My story begins a long time ago when I was born 18 years ago to be exact. I was born in the summer and the first thing I remember was the smell of the grass. It smelled good to me, but I didn't pay attention to it then because I was more interested in my mother.

As I got older I fell in love with the grass and began to eat it all the time. It didn't matter to me that I had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner because I couldn't resist it. I loved the taste of it, which was a little sweet and also tasted a little sour, but I didn't care.

My mother grew old and died and I didn't eat any grass for a few days, and the owner of the ranch I was on, thought I was going to die, too. But, I soon got over the death and began eating a lot of grass, and I soon became a very fat cow. I soon realized I should cut down on my eating grass, but I just couldn't stop and I kept getting fatter and fatter.

The owner soon saw that I was very fat and began to get worried about my health. The rest of my body grew proportionately with my body. The owner began to check why I was getting so big, but he couldn't find any reason and I couldn't talk, so I couln't tell him it was grass that made me big.
