Dear Louisa~
You don't know how it warmed my being to hear from you; it's been so long~ Hope this finds you all well! Thank you so much for writing; I have been lifting y'all up in prayer, and I have been concerned about you...
I am happy to know your kids are doing well; my kids are doing well, and I am happy to say that both Johnny and Ronee' are doing better. Johnny had a bad day yesterday, but today he seems to be in a little better frame of mind. He is rather upset because Kwame', his little brother, accidentally broke his remote-control HUMMER when he sat on it; but you know boys will be boys. It was an accident; but still, Johnny really enjoyed playing with his HUMMER! Ronee' is over her flare, and she is back to her normal self. She has her good days and her bad days, just like Johnny, and one never knows what kind of day they will have. That's the price of having something like muscular dystrophy or even JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis). One day you can be on top of the world, feeling invincible, and the next, just about every thing is a struggle. (By the way, Johnny has Duchenne's, which is, unfortunately, the severe form of the disease; and the most lethal. Only boys get it on an exclusive basis; but on very rare occasions, a girl may have it. Still, despite the odds and the prognosis, Johnny still sports a good attitude MOST days, and he refuses to give in to his muscular dystrophy. I have never seen a kid quite like Johnny, and he has taught me so much over the years!) I am glad you are feeling better; and I hope you continue TO do well!
I thank you for the prayers; they have been helping a lot! We keep you in prayer too; we do all of our friends! If it weren't for prayer, or our faith, how WOULD we manage in this old world, I ask! I don't know WHAT we would do without God or our faith! We'd be lost, that's for darn tootin'!
I am sorry you don't have a Golden Corral there; but I bet your "local hang out" is pretty good. Golden Corral is ours; it's cheap, and it is affordable, and best of all, you can get so much in the way of food for so little! The food there is scrumptious, and we always get our money's worth! And tonight, they are starting a Kid's Night; all kids 12 and under get their meals for only $1.99. Of course, with MY brood, that'd still be expensive! LOL Oh, well...still, it's a good way to wallow away a boring Tuesday night; we just may go out to eat at the Corral later on after Bill gets off work if he is up to it! (That's why we have credit cards! LOL I'll just have to pay it off that way, but I have no problem with that; my credit--and the credit of my husband's--has always been good, thank the Lord!) Bet the Golden Corral will be packed with families tonight; we'll just probably add to the fray~ LOL It's like they see us coming, and you can just see the line people or the managers going "NO! Go away; we're closing!" NOT really, but we DO manage to surprise people when we pull up in our bus....LOL
You have probably heard from Kendra that they are coming over here for Thanksgiving. We are so excited; we wish you could come too; but we already have a housefull (and a HALF) coming! We have our oldest daughters (one married with a family, three single) coming (two live out of state, in Colorado and in Louisiana, and two more live not far from us!), and we have Kendra and her family (that's 14 more!), and we have friends from Alaska coming (three; Michael and his wife, Jenna--their last name is Doucet--, and Sikik Grace Eegeesiak; Michael and Jenna live in Anchorage, and Sikik lives in the Arctic Circle, in the northernmost part of Alaska, in Barrow), and Texas (the Pearsons) coming. There'll be at least 100 people gathered for Thanksgiving counting us; we are going to the Golden Corral for Thanksgiving; and they expect to be busy, busy! (They always are! They will be open from 10 am until 6 p.m. that day; and they will be open for Christmas Day, too--same hours--; so we will probably be going out to eat there come Christmas AND Thanksgiving!) It is going to be a wild, but fun, time! Maybe next year you can come; I would really love to meet you guys!
How is the weather there in Soulsbysville? Here it is partly cloudy with pleasant temps; the leaves are past their peak color, and they are now turning ugly. The days are getting shorter with each passing week, and the nights are getting longer (not to mention, cooler). Hear y'all have had some rain lately; here's hoping for drier (and sunnier) days! Oh! Did you know there were auroras last night? We saw them, and they were quite bright: greens and pinks with white, sometimes red; pretty waving, dancing curtains of light traversing the nothern skies! We don't see the Northern Lights all that much this far south (they are more common to the northern tier states like Minnesota or Wisconsin, or the Canadian provences, let alone, Alaska and the Arctic Circle), but when they DO come, it is always a treat! We took some pictures of the Northern Lights last night; if you would like we will send you some copies.
My friends Jenna Aurora Doucet and Sikik Grace Eegeesiak, being from Alaska, see the Northern Lights quite frequently (especially Sikik; she sees them about every night come aurora season!), and they really enjoy them! They have shared with us some of the legends from the Inuit people about the Lights; and they are quite fascinating. Like, for example, if a person sees an aurora that is all red, this means that the Northern Lights are angry about something, and something bad is going to happen. NOT good when one sees an all-red auroral display, according to the Inuit peoples! (I pray I never see an all-red aurora; I just may worry a bit...)
The Leonids are soon; they are expected to be this week sometime, around the weekend. It's also supposed to get colder, with highs in the 40's here, and lows dipping to maybe below freezing (or even the 20's!). Yes, winter is most definitely on her way; time to take out the air conditioning and cover up our plants (or bring them in), and put up the storm windows (and all the other nuances that go along with approaching cold weather)! We saw them last year; some of my kids wrote stories or poems about the meteor shower; and they may do it again this time. They really enjoy skywatching, and we do too! It is incredible to think of all the mastery behind God's Handiwork, and it is amazing to think that it continues TO dazzle and inspire people even today, over 2,000 years later!

By now, I am sure you have heard about Kendra and her family adding a little girl from Japan and that they have gone ahead with the necessary paperwork. That is so awesome what God is doing for that family! That is sensational!
P.S. #2: The picture I used here is of a little girl with Down's that I found in a magazine. The illustrator is one of a husband-wife team who write a lot about disability issues and bring the needs of disabled people to light. I really love Martha Perske's artwork, and this is but one of many beautiful things that she has done. I have several of their books.

We don't have a Golden Corral here but they are in my capital city so I announced it to the church group on Sunday. Thanks again for an interesting article.
