Michael and Jenna Aurora Doucet write their little Tennessee friend a letter after he finally wrote back to them. They are tickled pink to hear from him.
Tuesday, November 16, 2004, 7:43 a.m., Alaska Time (YAWN!)~

Dear Johnny~

Hi there, Johnny! So nice to hear from you again; it's been a while! We were rather worried about you; we are glad you are doing (fairly) okay!

Here in Alaska, it is still early morning: not even eight o'clock yet. I have been up since six (this is Jenna), and Michael, he is still in bed, snoring like a bear! LOL He has the covers over his head, and all you can see is the very top of his head; he looks so cute! The Lights are out; but it will be getting lighter by nine. It is cold here: temps in the 30's for highs, in the teens at night. Right now it is probably about 23 degrees out, and crystal clear skies. The stars are so bright you could almost reach out and touch them! Really pretty!

I am feeling pretty good, but the other day I had a bad day of it, and I was feeling sorry for myself. I was mad at my darn arm and hand (not being able to move it), and I was having a stumbly morning. I was off balance, and I kept trying to fall. If I wasn't tripping over my stupid foot, I was tripping over my stupid crutch; and in my anger, I threw my crutch and it nearly went through the picture window. Thankfully, I MISSED, but I sure scared Michael to pieces: he thought I had fallen, and you never saw anyone move so fast! He came into the living room, a wild look in his eyes, and he kept signing to me, "ARE YOU OKAY?? ARE YOU OKAY??" and I was sitting on the floor, just a crying my eyes out. He knew I was having a bad day, so he then sat beside me and just held me in his lap while I just cried and cried. He really felt bad for me. But today I am having a better day; I just wish I didn't have to depend on my husband all the time; I HATE this, being paralyzed and not being able to move my arm or hand or having to wear a stupid brace on my leg and using a crutch to walk! I HATE looking disabled; people are always staring at me or making comments, and even though I may not HEAR them, I CAN read their lips, and it makes me so uncomfortable! Have you ever had days like this, Johnny?

I am sorry for pouring out my troubles on you, but now that I have gotten all this off my chest, I do feel better now. Please forgive me. You are only a kid, and you have your own problems; I don't need to be telling you my troubles! I hope you don't think I am stupid or whacko; but I just had a bad day of it the other day, and I just wanted to tell you that I have bad days, too. You are not alone.

I am looking forward to seeing you all on Thanksgiving. Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week, isn't it? At first, it was months, then weeks; now it is only DAYS. I really miss you and your Northern Lights family, and I can't wait to see you again! I have been missing you all so much; ever since you left to go back home to Tennessee, it seems that I have been in a blue funk! At least I have Michael to help me through the rough patches that is so often my life, but it sure helps having friends like you all! I just wish we were CLOSER; that way I could see you any time I want! But as you know, I am NOT walking all the way to Tennessee from ALASKA, that is an AWFULLY long walk!! YIKES! LOL

Soon it will be Christmas; and on that note, I have been wondering what I could get you for Christmas. What would you like? Please tell me what you want next time you write, and Michael and/or myself will do our best to get whatever it is that you want or need. You are really special to us, Johnny, and if we ever have a boy, I hope he turns out like you. You are an Angel in our lives; and we are so honored to consider you as one of our friends!

Did you make it to the Golden Corral yesterday for the veterans appreciation? I bet they were all tickled that you did this for them--well, not YOU per se, but the Golden Corral! LOL--; what a nice gesture! I bet it was crowded, and I bet there were a lot of hungry veterans! I loved that picture you put of the smiling vet with the flag; that was absolutely aDORable! Where did you find such a picture?? Didn't you say you have a sister that works at the Golden Corral? Was she there? I bet she was ready to pull her hair out by the time the night ended! LOL

Well, Johnny, Michael is stirring; I best get him his breakfast or he will turn into a grouchy nanuq! I don't need a growly nanuq for a husband; otherwise he just may eat ME for breakfast! See you on Thanksgiving! Can't wait!

Will write more later; until then, take care, and see you next week!

(((HUGS))) and love, your friends in Alaska, Jenna Aurora and Michael. :)

Another interesting section of your stories. I think when I had to be in a wheelchair I really got frustrated like the character and I learned some things about people that really amazed me. How irritated they get at people on crutches or in a wheelchair. They should be so lucky.
