This is Deepa writing again; I wrote earlier today, and I am writing again now because I have finally heard about the fates of my siblings, and also my Ma, whose name is Anuja.
I am happy to report that Ma is well (she is in hospital, with water in her lungs; but she is expected to recover; I talked to her earlier, and she sounds quite weakened, but she was able to talk for a brief time), but on the other side, I find my eyes growing wet with tears because some of my siblings (Arjun, Rani, and Sita) have perished in the ensuing tsunamis. They were at the beachfront with friends when the tsunami hit, killing them all instantly; and it wasn't until today when they finally found their bodies floating in the stagnant waters. I was so relieved to hear from my Ma at long last; yet, at the news of my sisters and brother being killed, all I can do is wail and cry out in grief.
I also find out that my Pa, Venkatesh, is going to Sri Lanka, to help out with relief efforts, and he will also go to India, to see Ma in hospital; I wish I could go with him, to see Ma and see the damage, but schooling and my job at hospital prevents this. So all I can really do is stay behind here at my home here in America and pray and hope.
Ma said to me that so many families were affected by the tsunami; and the death toll has now reached to nearly 80,000. It is expected to go even higher (some estimate it may reach 100,000 before too long, thanks to the threat of disease and pestilance), and she says the landscape is littered with bloated, decomposing bodies of men, women, even children and babies; and the stench is unbelievable. Ma was found soon after the disaster by some people who rushed in to help the victims, and she was without breath, without pulse; but they managed to save her life, and pump out unbelievable amounts of water from her lungs; and now she has pneumonia and is now very sick. She may still die, but if I know my Ma, she has always been a fighter; and I am a lot like her in spirit and temperament. Ma and myself, we are a lot alike in that respect. All I can really do is hope and pray that she recovers; and all I can do is cry with relief; yet I must also cry out in grief over the misfortune that has befallen our family, in the deaths of Rani, Arjun, and Sita. I wish I could go to Cuddalore, so I could go to the funeral; but I am unable to. So I will grieve here, and offer my prayers up to God, and ask that He bless our family in our time of sadness and help us understand why this has happened to us.

will be with us for a long time. Only God can help us,

I agree this is a heart rending story and I was making a joke because some of these people act like monkeys when they do the things that they do. Of course I do not beleive that we descended from monkeys but how the world was created by God can be explained some ways. I have always maintained that the more people try to prove that God does not exist the more they prove that he does. A day in God's time means different things but that first lie came from Satan. Anyway I expect to hear soon about some of my friends doing missionary work. They had members killed in the hospital by a terrorist.
