Ronee' is in tears as she writes a letter to her California friend, Rebekkah Cohen, who has been taken to the emergency room after a fall at her home. Rebekkah's mother, Naomi, has just emailed Ronee' with the news, and she is understandably upset.
Wednesday, March 9, 2005, 5:20 p.m., C.S.T.~
Dear Rebekkah~
You won't get this until you get home, but I just was informed by your mother that you had a bad fall at home and now you are in the E.R. I am so sorry! I pray it is nothing serious!
This won't be long because we have church tonight at 7, and I have to be there BY six thirty at the EXTREME latest. If we are late, we can't sing in the choir for that particular night's service. So I try to make it a point to be on time as best as I can. But I was just checking my stuff on my computer, and there was an email from your maman, and she said that y'all were in the E.R., waiting for the doctor to come talk with y'all. She said you had a bad fall at home, and she was worried, so she took you to the hospital. I pray and hope that you will be okay!
I have been doing well, but then I heard about your fall, and now I am in tears. It is hard for me to try to write when the tears are falling from my eyes, so if you see mistakes in this letter, now you will know why. Please forgive me. I know how it is to go into the hospital when you least expect it: there is nothing worse than sitting for hours in a crowded, stuffy emergency room, or riding in the back of a moving ambulance on a bumpy road while the paramedics are doing "things" to you, things that really hurt, and your mother is trying to calm me down by holding your hand. Or you wake up in the ambulance, and you can't talk because you have a breathing tube down your throat, and they are messing with your wrist and doing one of those horrid blood gas tests on it. *OW*
It is also not fun being admitted to the hospital and having x-rays and all sorts of fun tests (NOT!), and you don't know what the doctors will find or if you are going to live or die because you feel so awful in the first place, and the first thing on your mind is to get into a bed and SLEEP. But you don't get much in the way of rest in the hospital, and it is a royal pain!
I am sorry you are having to go through this; please have your daddy or your mother e-mail me, so I can know what is going on with you. I will mention your fall at Christ Community Assembly of God tonight, and I will have our pastoral team pray for you. I will also have the church congregation lift y'all up in prayer. You really need it right now.
Well, I have to eat, so I can get ready and then go by six, so we can be at Christ Community Assembly of God BY six-thirty, or Pastor Bilkey will be annoyed! BIG time! He does NOT tolerate lateness, and if you ARE late, you'd best have a very good excuse as to WHY you are late! I will write your maman later; you take care, and know that y'all are in my heart and prayers! I love and miss you!
