Another of Studio Reader Stan's continuing misadventures.
Studio Reader Stan meets again with Mr. Gold, the executive at Quality Studios.
Mr. Gold: Studio Reader Stan, my man, how’s it going?
Studio Reader Stan: Once again, Mr. Gold, I prefer Larry. My actual name.
Mr. Gold: Sorry, I didn’t hear a word you just said. I’m practicing paying attention while not doing so. But anyway, great news. We just bought and greenlit that script from that socialite Rome Marriott.
Studio Reader Stan: Why would you do such a thing?
Mr. Gold: It was a strong script. Fast-paced. Great action. Great drama.
Studio Reader Stan: It had none of those things. It was by far the most dreadful thing I’ve ever read. And she didn’t even bother to spell check it. Every third word was misspelled.
Mr. Gold: Really? I never actually read it. No problem. We’ll just bang out a great soundtrack.
Studio Reader Stan: Aren’t you worried that a project like that will drag the studio’s credibility down?
Mr. Gold: The what?
Studio Reader Stan: Credibility. Y’know, when people believe and trust that you’re making movies for the right reasons.
Mr. Gold: That’s a good word. I’ll look into it. But I’ve got a better word for you. Publicity. That girl is a walking billboard. We’ll make our money back tenfold.
Studio Reader Stan: If you insist.
Mr. Gold: And do you know why?
Studio Reader Stan: ‘Cause the end of the world is upon us?
Mr. Gold: No, because you’re going to work on it with her until it’s fixed. Congratulations.
Studio Reader Stan: Mr. Gold, I do have a life of my own that I’d like to spend some time on.
Mr. Gold: This is no time for jokes, Studio Reader Stan. Now be at her place in half an hour. Oh, and when she’s not looking, see if you can swipe me some of her lingerie.
Studio Reader Stan shuffles out, wishing he hadn’t woken up today.
