Dear Louisiana,

My name is Audrey Jackson. I recently read about you in one of the adoption magazines I receive and was so moved I had to write. My husband, Jack and I have three adopted daughters, all from Japan. The middle child, Susie, was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy not long after she came to us. It has been a challenge to handle her needs along with those of my other children. I am her primary care giver, my husband works on a factory and I stay at home with the children. It gets quite overwhelming at times. I often feel trapped and alone, especially when Jack has to work overtime to make ends meet. I cannot imagine having over fifty to care for. I admire you and your husband. You must be extraordinary people to take on all that you have. It lifts my spirits and makes me realize if you can care for multiple severely disabled children then I can surely manage one handicapped child and two healthy ones!

Speaking of children, I had best close now and tend to the children. Jack will be home before too long and will expect supper to be on the table when he walks through the door. As I am sure you know, a mother’s work is never done!
