Louisiana writes to a little girl in Mississippi, seven years old, who is in desperate need of prayer (and help) right now. She was molested by her father before he severely injured her mother; both are in the hospital now, recovering from their injuries.

Dearest Susie~
I wish I could do something to take away the hurt and pain you are feeling inside. I know it is very hard to be in the hospital, away from your little sisters, but they are in very good hands, and they are being taken care of while you and your mama recover. Most importantly, they are SAFE, and your daddy will never hurt them (or you) ever again! I will see to that, and so will other people!
Honey, I am so sorry that your daddy did this to you and your mother! When I first heard of the events that happened, my heart was stabbed, and I cried and cried! NOBODY, not even your very own FATHER, should do anything like this to the people that they say that they love! What he did was NOT love; it was pure hatred, pure and simple, and what he did was NOT nice. I am sorry that your sisters are not with you and your mama, but the most important thing right now is to get better and know that for now, this is the best course of action. I know it isn't easy right now, but right now, we feel that this is the best course of action, and one day, you WILL see your sisters again. I PROMISE you that!
Your sisters are in California now, with my friend, Louisa Mason, and she will keep me up to date as to how they are doing, and I want to know how you and your mama are faring, too. You will be hearing from me again, and I wanted to write to you to let you know that your little sisters are safe, and they are going to be very well taken care of.
I wanted to let you know, too, that I am a mama myself. (Boy, am I EVER! LOL) I have 52 kids in my family, and like you, a lot of them are disabled. There are kids in wheelchairs, and kids who use crutches to walk, and there are kids who are blind, and kids who are deaf. There are also kids who have trouble learning, and there are kids who have trouble talking. But they are still my children, and I love each and every one of them very, very much. I wish I could have let your sisters stay with us, the Sanduskys, but honey, trying to keep an eye on fifty-two kids is no small, easy task, and also, there isn't much room now as it is! But I wanted you to come; I really did! I think I have cried more these past several days than I ever have in my life, and I am sad that you are sick and are in the hospital. You will most definitely be in my thoughts and prayers, and you can write to me anytime you want! I WILL answer you, and I WILL be your friend!
Darling, if you need ANYTHING, you just let me know! I want to help you get over this!
I will write again soon, but my own kids are calling me, so I must see what they want. (*Sigghhh* A mama's work is NEVER done!) Again, I hope you feel better soon, and I want you to know that Jesus loves you, and so do I!

Oh Karen... What an incredible letter! DEAR SUSIE portrays both raw ugliness (the molestation and assault), unconditional love (52 children!) and compassionate empathy (Louisiana's reaching out to Susie) all rolled into one superbly written story. Well done!
