Dear Journal~
I am sorry if I haven't written in here a while, but I haven't really felt that good lately. I have been having more problems with my muscles being weak, and I have had some trouble with my breathing (enough to require some extra oxygen, but yet not bad enough to go to the emergency room, thank goodness). I guess that means my disease is starting to get worse, and that scares me, that really scares me. I just hope I make it long enough to Christmas or my birthday--or at least until next year! I HATE having this stupid muscular dystrophy!! GRRRR!!!!
I also have been really depressed about all the goings-on in the world: the fight with the Pledge of Allegience vs. Michael Newdow, an athiest (I really feel sorry for him, is all I can say!!), the continued fighting/bombings in Iraq, the threats from Al Quada (I know I spelled that wrong...), the rising prices of gas (and just about everything else), the hurricane (Katrina; so many people were displaced, and a lot of them have had to go elsewhere to start over or wait in shelters until all the damage is cleaned up; and it will be a very long while before they will be able to return), the pointing of fingers and blaming other people, and whatnot. It is enough to make this young kid break down and cry!
I also have been depressed because kids have been making fun of my sister, Ronee', and she has been so sad herself. I wish I could go to her school and beat those stupid, no good for nothin' kids up!! Or at least give them a good talkin' to! I am glad my school has a "No tolerance" ordinance: there is no bullying or fighting allowed, and school has been going GREAT!! I haven't been teased since coming to Morningside Academy, and it has been WONDERFUL!
Mama is taking in three young hurricane storm evacuees (I think I spelled that wrong as well!), three siblings from New Orleans, Louisiana. They are currently in the hospital, but they should be coming by next week sometime. They will probably stay in Lightning's old room or in one of the guestrooms. ANYway, there's a 12-year-old boy (Antoine), his nine-year-old sister, Peaches (I don't know her real name), and their little six-year-old brother, Reynaldo, and they are African-American. They lost their parents in the storm, and they had nobody else to take them in, so they were flown to Tennessee, and they will be staying with us for a while. Mama is also taking in an adult storm victim, Shaniqua Williams, who is from Biloxi, Mississippi, and she will continue HER recovery here at our house when she is released from the hospital. So we will have a full house again; and it will be quite interesting, to say the very least!
Mama went to Mississippi to help with relief efforts (she got back a week ago today), and she said it was like Biloxi had been hit with a nuclear bomb or an F-5 tornado. Damage and destruction as far as the eyes can see, and so many buildings and whatnot in total disrepair. The people down there are still without power and food nearly three weeks AFTER Hurricane Katrina hit, and they are in such desperate need! This is one reason why Shaniqua Williams is coming because I am sure that she lost everything due to the hurricane; in fact, rescue workers found her a WEEK LATER, lying unconscious in a pile of what was once her home, gasping for air and coughing weakly. This was how they knew that they'd found somebody alive! Mama took care of her first in Mississippi at a shelter, then she and Shaniqua went to Tennessee, where Shaniqua is currently in the hospital where mama works. She is doing better, she says, but she still faces a long and hard recoery when she DOES get out of the hospital. So this is why she will be staying with us for a while.
The weather has been kinda' cool (cooler than it's been lately; it is a sure sign that fall is soon to start; in fact fall starts next week!!), and last night there was a beautiful, bright harvest moon in the sky. It was really pretty! There have also been some auroras out, and I always enjoy those, but usually they aren't bright enough to where I can actually SEE them! I DID see them well enough in ALASKA, but that is ALASKA, NOT Tennessee! They aren't usually seen this far south unless there's a big storm on the sun, and those don't happen very often!!

Very sad, that a 12 year-old should have to worry about being alive next year. We should all thank our lucky stars and shell out the schekels for research--even a couple is something
Karen You brought home the feelings through Johnny, that we all have today about the world confusion, and people like Michael, who front for the ACLU in waning to rid God from everything so they can have this nation the way they want it. A modern day Sodom and Gommora. Of course they will argue that's not so, but believe me it truly is, and God help us all, because our own populace on the extreme left with all their cohorts will defeat us before the terrorists can.In fact they are helping them big time by keeping the division going on in the media to make Bush look incompotent and pull hiim down. They think they can recover and win the white house back in 2008. Well they may forget God , but he won't forget them and their day will come! I dread the thought, ans wouldn't want to be them, when it happens! Great work Karen!
