This week, Studio Reader Stan is joined in the coffee shop by Herb, a fellow studio reader.

As Studio Reader Stan drinks coffee, he's joined by Herb, who's carrying a backpack full of scripts.

Studio Reader Stan: Hey Herb, how you doing?

Herb: I�ve got twenty scripts to read that I�m supposed to provide coverage for by today.

Studio Reader Stan: You haven�t read them yet?

Herb: No. But it�s not a problem. I�m fast.

Herb grabs the first script in the pile and reads the first line of the first page --

Herb: Fade in. Ext. A New York City Street.

He writes on a coverage sheet while saying --

Herb: Too derivative. I�ve seen streets in films a million times. Pass on the story. Pass on the writer.

He tosses the script aside and picks up the next one.

Herb: (reads the title) The Boy Who Needed A Heart.

He writes on a coverage sheet, while saying --

Herb: Too soft. Pass on the story. Pass on the writer.

He picks up another and opens it up to the last page, seeing it�s 121 pages.

Herb: Too episodic. Pass on the story. Pass on the writer.

He tosses it aside and picks up another, opening it to page 25. He speed reads the page, then writes on the coverage sheet while saying,

Herb: Confusing first act plot point. Pass on the story. Pass on the writer.

He tosses the script, then looks at his watch.

Herb: I�m making great time. I should be done in eight minutes.

He dials his cell phone and listens to a voice mail, then hangs up with frustration.

Studio Reader Stan: What�s the matter?

Herb: My agent still hasn�t read my script yet. I don�t know what his problem is.
