I am sitting here, taking a break from working. I am writing on my laptop here, and Sari is with me. She is still working hard, and I smile every time I hear her tinkling laugh. She is obviously enjoying herself, talking with the different athletes from different nations. I am having a good time, too.
Yesterday was a black day for the U.S. Only one gold medal (and a silver), and the U.S. hockey team won, 6-0, but other than that, athletes fell (Apolo Anton Ohno went OH, NO!! He fell in the last lap, thus, dasahing his hopes for a medal; he still has several more chances, though) , or athletes came up short in the events they participated in. They are also still feeling the sting of Michelle Kwan's pulling out of the Olympics, and the Americans are in a foul mood. Only one bright spot, and that waas when Shawn White of California took a gold medal in the men's halfpipe. His teammate took silver. It would have been a U.S. sweep, but Finland snuck in there and got a bronze. YAYYYY, FINLAND!! *grins* Sari was thrilled to hear that a Finn took the bronze.
Hopefully today will be a better day. There is already controversy brewing in the skating world, and it is interesting to see what will take place. There are many people who are unhappy with the new judging system; frankly, I see nothing wrong with it. The Russians are proving to be the tough competers that they are, and they are giving other countries a run for their money.
I had to laugh this morning when I got up: Sari was lying on her side, snoring like a kitten. She was purring. She looked so cute! I didn't have the heart to wake her up but I had to, or we would have been late for work. Today is a good day for her: her MS isn't flaring up nearly as bad, and she is walking on her crutches today. Hopefully she will continue TO have a good day. Her disease is so unpredictable: one day she is getting around pretty good, and the next, she is so sick or is back in bed. That's what makes dealing with her illness so hard because you just don't know WHAT will happen!
We have gotten some more souvenirs for our friends back home in Finland (as well as for our friends in America, the Sanduskys). I have been pigging out on Italian food, and I think I have gained ten pounds in the last few days! LOL My clothes feel tighter on me! LOL
Have heard that an American skier has fallen, and she may have been hurt; she was taken down the hill on a stretcher, and she was crying. I pray and hope it isn't anything serious...God, be with that skier...
Well, that is it for now here at the Winter Olympics. Will write in here again soon. As they say here in Torino, Italy, CIAO!!
