Dear Ellen Jones~
Thank you for writing to me so fast; it was nice (?) to hear from you again.
I don't think I can continue writing to you if you keep accusing me of things, but I don't understand what I may have done to anger you so much. If I have said or done anything to hurt you, I am indeed sorry, and I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me.
I know you have the right to NOT believe in God, but I will NOT have you saying derogatory things about Him! I choose TO BELIEVE in Him, and I canNOT imagine my life withOUT Him! God has been so good to me, and I think that I should be allowed to share my feelings with others! And I will NOT have you blaming God for all the unfortunate circumstances that you have faced! GOD didn't cause the fire; it was something that was beyond your control, and it was ONLY by a Miracle that you and Wayne both survived, unscathed! It could have been so much worse! Very much so!
I am sorry that you have had a lot of unhappiness in your life, but you say I don't know of pain and suffering. Honey-Chere', I KNOW pain and suffering; I have had to go through HELL on account of my parents, my children, my husband, and also my friends!
I also have had to watch friends go through horrible things, and I have had to watch some of my very own children undergo painful tests or treatments in order to save their lives. I have had to listen to the screams of a young girl as she has tubes put into her body or down her throat, or hold the small convulsing body of a boy as he seizes uncotrollably, the life slowly ebbing from him as the minutes ticked by, and also watch doctors pummel my young son further into unconsciousness as they tried to revive his stopped heart and breathing after heart surgery, thus, bringing him more intense pain. I have had to watch my beautiful mother wither into a skeleton as brain cancer gripped her brain and destroyed her health, only to have her die a painful death a few months later, and I have had to struggle with the decision to have my teenaged son or daughter put away into a mental institution as they suffered a complete emotional collapse.
So don't tell ME I DON'T know about pain and suffering because the truth of the matter is, I DO!! I am NOT trying to make my situation sound any worse than yours, but PLEASE don't accuse me of NOT knowing what you are going through! No, I have NOT lost my house or belongings to a fire, but I know many people who HAVE!
As for the money I sent to you, I was only reaching my hand out in friendship, as God would have me to do. Did I ask you to pay me back? NO!! I DON'T expect you to pay me back; in fact, I DON'T want you to pay me back! Consider it to be a gift from the heart!
Another thing that upset me about your letter was that you don't like "my kind" preaching at you and that you don't want any religious platitudes being directed at you or Wayne. Honey, I can understand that. There ARE Christians who DO take it to the extreme, but even though I AM a born-again Christian, I am NOTanywhere near as bad as some, and there are plenty of decent, hardworking people who happen to live Christian lives. They choose to have God in their lives, and God is first in their lives, but there is nothing extreme about them or their behavior! There are extremists in ALL faiths, NOT just in Christianity! THINK about that for a moment, if you will.
I just wanted to share with you what God has done in MY life. I am just sorry that you and Wayne are having a hard time in accepting what has happened to you.
