This week, Mr. Gold tells Studio Reader Stan that he's remaking the Rome Marriott movie that he just made last year.
Studio Reader Stan enters Mr. Gold’s office.
Mr. Gold: Studio Reader Stan, I need you to cover this script immediately.
He hands him the script.
Studio Reader Stan: Uh, this is the movie you just filmed last year with Rome Marriott.
Mr. Gold: I know. We’re remaking it. I couldn’t be more excited.
Studio Reader Stan: Why are you remaking it? The reviews were atrocious and it bombed so badly it almost bankrupted the studio.
Mr. Gold: Because no one’s ever done it before.
Studio Reader Stan: I think there’s a reason for that.
Mr. Gold: Of course there’s a reason. It’s called – lack of vision. Audiences will be fascinated. There’ll be lines forever to see this remake.
Studio Reader Stan: Are you at least going to make it differently this time?
Mr. Gold: In what way?
Studio Reader Stan: Like with an actress who can act, and with a director who isn’t in a coma, and with a script not written by your actress who can’t act.
Mr. Gold: No. That’s the beauty of it. We’re going to do everything exactly the same. Except for your script coverage, in which you apparently called it dreadful.
Studio Reader Stan: And I was trying to be nice.
Mr. Gold: I need you to say you were incorrect, and you now see its merits.
Studio Reader Stan: But there are none. It’s one hundred percent completely without merit. She even misspelled her own name on the cover page, so I couldn’t even give her kudos for getting that right.
Mr. Gold: Well, there’s your fix. Rewrite her name correctly, and say that now one of your criticisms has been fixed, you see the story for how wonderful it really is.
Studio Reader Stan: Sir, I do have some pride.
Mr. Gold laughs.
Mr. Gold: That was a good one, Studio Reader Stan. I’m going to have to e-mail it to my fellow executives... Now have that new coverage on my desk by tomorrow morning.
Tune in next week for more of Studio Reader Stan's adventures...
