And if San Diego is too clean, you can visit Tijuana just minutes away by car. Here you will taste local delicacies like hotdogs wrapped in bacon and smothered in hot sauce--don't knock it till you've tried it.
After that, you can mosey down to the mariachi bar and have a whistle-blowing maniac named Manuel sneak up from behind, grabbing your forehead with a grip betraying a yellow-belt in Judo, and force feed a shot of tequila into you at which point you feel a pang of sympathy for the geese who give us pâté de foie gras. Before you know it, your inhibitions have been dampened and you’re nose-diving into a plate of enchiladas. “Good idea,” you think, as you seize the pitcher of margarita and guzzle down three drinks worth of liquid in a single swig. Your buddy throws a salt shaker, which you miraculously catch, sprinkle on your hand and lick in a harmonious motion. You smack your lips and let loose with a howl resembling a moose being raped. It’s time for the strip bars.
If after Tijuana you feel too dirty, you can drive back to San Diego: it’s a center for self-improvement, spiritualism, wellness and the like. This is where Deepak Chopra lives, and where Santa comes after he has made his rounds. This is also where the members of Heaven’s Gate used to live before they went away with the Hale-Bopp comet. Perhaps unbeknownst to themselves, they left an indelible stamp on idealists the world over on that fatuous day in 1997. What amount of conviction must be sustained to die wearing an arm band declaring: HEAVEN’S GATE AWAY TEAM? It’s like standing in the middle of a freeway and saying: “Beam me up, Scotty.” I’m somehow repulsed and envious.
Well what can say I live in San Diego you pretty much summed up the place you left out The Hal Boop survial club meets every teusday at the Areo-space museum in Balboa Park just to see what they are missing out on, yes San Diego is many things I just wishDeepak would move way to serious for a place designed to drive you nuts..
