This is Louisiana. I am writing from work; am going to be leaving early today. I hope this finds you well; I am not doing so well on this end, of which I will explain the reason why shortly.
I have to tell you that my next door neighbor, Maria Johnson, lost her oldest child, a boy, Opri, who died yesterday. Opri was almost fourteen; his birthday would have been next month on the 11th. He had lived with kidney problems all his life, and he had two transplants at the ages of five and ten. He had been put on the national transplant list for a new kidney, but was too sick--and much too weak--to survive any longer.
As you can imagine, both Maria, his mom, and myself are devastated, absolutely devastated. Opri was a very nice and personable young man who never let his health problems get to him, and he was a beacon of courage and hope to all who knew him. Now Maria has to make funeral arrangements for Opri, and of course, when we find out the details, we will go to the wake and to the funeral services. We knew and loved Opri very much, and we feel that this is the right thing to do. We want to be there for Maria in her time of grief.
I also have been in tears about the situation involving our nation's airports, thanks to the terror plot in England that was thankfully stopped. It is like living the nightmare of September 11, 2001, all over again, and with that anniversary fastly approaching, we must be vigilent and not let our guard down for a second. I still have nightmares about September 11, 2001, every so often, and I still grieve for those lost in the terror attacks. I had friends who lost loved ones and friends in the attacks, so the attacks hit me personably, and I can't think about them without crying.
Ronee' is not doing well herself: she sprained her ankle the other day, and now she is hobbling around on her crutches and is still in a lot of pain. She was running around the backyard, playing with her brothers and sisters, and she stepped in a hole. She thought she broke her ankle because when she ended up in the hole, her ankle popped really loud, and she had instantaneious pain. Bill took her to the E.R.; X-rays revealed a badly sprained ankle.
She has been depressed, and I wish I knew what to say to her. She knows about her friend Opri dying, and the news of his death hit her very hard. She is in tears, and my heart breaks for her. She really loved Opri!
Johnny had his tests at the MDA clinic, and on Monday he goes into the hospital for his muscle biopsy, to see if his muscular dystrophy is getting worse. He is trying not to think of it, but he is, and he will be in the hospital a few days after the muscle biopsy. He is not looking forward to it at all, but he knows that this is necessary. Please be praying for Johnny; pray that his muscular dystrophy isn't getting worse! So far, he has beaten the odds, and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I will let you know what happens regarding Johnny; stay tuned~
How is the weather on your end? Here we had a cold front pass on through; it is cloudy, but the air has cooled down considerably. It is supposed to clear up later this afternoon. Tonight we will go outside and watch the meteor shower that is scheduled to occur between 8:30 and 10:30. It is the Persied (spelling?) meteor shower. Hopefully we will see some meteors; anything to get our minds off our troubles!! I hope the weather is good where you are at!
There may even be possible auroras (northern lights); so we will be watching the skies closely the next few days! (Auroras are rather uncommon here, but when they do come, they don't disappoint! It takes me back to when we were in Alaska, and we really enjoy the celestial light show! :) )
Well, dear Kendra, I will let you go now. I have to see what Maria wants; she is calling me. I can hear her yelling outside. Take care, Kendra, and God bless!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend on this end, Louie May. :( >tears<
Dear Karen...Rest assured my thoughts and prayers are with Louisiana, Maria, Ronee and all concerned. So much sadness to endure. I pray that things will brighten soon as time is a great healer.
Louie and her family and friends are going through a very rough patch in life, we all need to hold hands with them in collective prayer, to pull them through this trying time
Blessings
Peter

Karen, an endearing letter, running the gamut of pain, injury, death and sorrow......Such unwelcomed visitors in life, yet, a common part.
How glad I am, Louie May was directing Kendra Mae to look UP! It made me think of Isaiah 45:22 "Look unto Me, and be saved, all ye ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other!"
