Dear readers, this is a true story about an old apple tree, a church, and a family that claimed ownership of the tree!
Beloved, I could hardly believe the note given to me that had been left on the door of the church that morning which had been left by a neighbor living next to the church.
Dear readers, the note read, "Tell your children to not pick up the apples on your side of the fence or ours because all the apples belong to us."
Beloved, I was somewhat taken aback by this note, and to think that someone would have the nerve to leave a note like this was beyond me, but after reading the note, we instructed our children to leave the apples alone and instructed them to overlook these people and to pray for them.
Saints, I had completely forgotten this incident until three or four days later when I received a phone call from our pastor asking me if I had time to come to this church property and bring my chainsaw to which I agreed.
Beloved, to my surprise when I arrived I discovered this enormous apple tree that had been uprooted during a recent storm had blown across the church parking lot and was blocking the church parking lot in front of the door entering the church.
Saints, as I began to saw the tree up in pieces, I noticed that it was loaded with apples which caused me to remember the note left at the church a few days before informing us to not pick up the apples from that tree on our side or their side of the fence informing us that those apples belonged to them.
Dear readers, I began to tremble in my shoes as I cautiously walked over to the place where the note had been placed on the door, and to my amazement, this storm had uprooted this huge tree by the roots without disturbing the building next to it.
Beloved, the next thing reported to me was that the owners of this tree had moved and their property was up for sale.
Dear readers, I will never forget this life-changing experience on the greed of man and how God dealt with it through an old apple tree.
