Read it, loved it. The description, characterization was wonderful for such a short work. The love scene was sweet and hot. Lovely work. I hope you will take it out of doc file form and post it here.

I love stories with open endings for they cause the reader to use their own thoughts to create new beginnings. Lady J

Miguel de Cervantes needed to be throw in jail to write with such elocuence.
The short story becomes a long one in the mind of the reader which uses many minutes flling the spaces between the lines despite the delicate minutia, from the wax sealing of a scroll to the portuguese steel wrapped in virginity.
If you had been a thirteen century bard I envision you in the company of the greats.
As you are living today's century, no bards here that could cross florettes or words with you....yet.
Son of a Mariner is so well written that it is a crime not to put there, more publicly, where everybody can read it.
A beautiful story.
