Dear Journal~

Well, we've done it. We've applied to adopt yet another child. I know you're probably thinkin' we've gone off the deep end. Been looking at pics of children needing a "forever family", and I'm losing my heart AGAIN!!

I want to take them all in, but of course, we can't.

We've filled out an application with CHINH (Children In Need of Homes), which is a new agency that deals with hard-to-place children. They have programs in Europe and Asia.

If we get another child, great, if we don't, that will be okay, too. God is in control.

Heard from a woman in Burleson, Texas, who has adopted a total of 17 children, most with special needs. They have five boys and 12 girls who range in age from 8 months to 16 years. Will have to write to her when I get some time.

It's a wonder my computer doesn't blow up from all the activity! LOL

This woman's name is Breeanna Clarke. Her kids come from Mexico, Africa, China, Korea, India, and the U.S. She's a homeschool instructor, and her husband, an attourney. Her children have conditions ranging from JRA, autism, CP, and Down's, and some of them are completely healthy.

I had a slow day at work today: thank God none of my patients died. Some, like Toddie Weatherspoon and Jeannine Hebert, are finally out of the MICU; others, like Aurora Skydancer and Elmer Fudd (don't laugh; that is his real name!), aren't faring well at all. Aurora is grossly overweight and has many weight-related health problems. A heart attack brought her here. She is extremely depressed and is doing poorly. I am concerned about her. If she makes it, I'll be surprised.

Elmer, meanwhile, has terminal lung cancer that has metasticized to his liver; it doesn't look good. It is only a matter of time before he dies. He is one of the sickest patients in the MICU at the current time.

Good to be back at work: I love 'em, God bless 'em; but the kids are driving me insane! (And here I want another one! LOL) Compared to my house, the MICU or ER is quiiiiiiiiiiiiiiet! LOL
