You know you're growing old gracefully when you help your twenty-one year old celebrate her marriage with grace and style while dancing to hip-hop, old school R&B and Justin Timberlake but chose to sit the Sinatra tune out!
You just have to love it!
Helping to raise my niece from infancy to young adulthood was challenging, to say the least!
Emotional roller coaster does not begin to describe the ride that this volatile little girl took my family on. She was difficult, ornery, angry, and cried a river of tears through every single stage of development, particularly the tumultuous teens..
Partly to blame was the traumatic divorce of my sister (her mom) and her father (my physically and emotionally abusive ex brother in law). The split was anything but amicable and this precious, sensitive child got caught in the crossfire like so many child pawns in the divorce game so often do.
So, when my niece announced that she had met the man of her dreams some fourteen months ago, we were all quite delighted and secretly prayed for the young man.
I know that I prayed that he had the patience of Job, the generosity and philanthropy of Rockefeller and enough kindness and compassion to fill the Grand Canyon.
My prayers were answered affirmatively to all three!
Delighted to share in the nuptial bliss was his immediate family, very lovely folks, his friends and coworkers and some relatives who flew in from Ireland! This is the kind of family that we all prayed would lovingly accept and embrace our sweet young woman, now twenty-one and mature.
What great fun we had!
My 76 year old mother, the loving grandmother who raised the cheerful, tearful bride even got up to boogie with the young groom to an oldie but goodie!
What a shock for both sides of the family to see the senior matriarch partying hardy with twenty-one year olds! Talk about a bridge of generations built before our very eyes! Astonishing and delightful to witness, and caught on every cell phone camera in the place!
I teased my mother afterwards that I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't become and overnight You Tube sensation!
All in all, great fun was had by everyone who attended this event, including the attendants at Caffe on the Green, the sexy voiced dj and especially the groom's very proud older brother and their friends.
This 'read' was quite enjoyable. In particular, the author paints a masterpiece of a story which engagingly depicts 2-decades flawlessly. In the end, it masterfully rolls like a 'flick.'

Sweet story, Mimi. Your niece is so beautiful and she exudes happiness. May the Lord continue to bless her and the new union. Jumping the broom reminds me of Kunta Kinte from Roots. Great title, Mimi.
Jennifer finally ends up in Apalachia after barely escaping an attack. She soon learns about her destiny and how her actions will 'put a friend in grave danger'. With everyone refusing to tell her more Jennifer must find answers for herself.
