Success Story
Promoting tolerance and compassion has been my mission for several years now since the birth of my granddaughter, Candace Battiste.
My latest dream to come to fruition is getting My Name is Not Monkey Girl into bookstores, signing up to speak on tolerance and read it in local schools.
The publication of Embracing Candace: Anthology One through my own publishing company, Candalyse Publishing was just the beginning.
The company name is a combination of two of my granddaughters' names, Candace and Alyse. I envisioned publishing a book of inspirational poems that would serve as a resource for parents and teachers, grandparents, schools and libraries to assist with teaching children the importance of kindness, patience, unconditional love, tolerance, and compassion. The resulting anthology is a masterpiece that superseded my vision.
Proceeds will fund additional surgeries for Candace.

Candace is an amazing, intellectually gifted child who, at only 9 years of age, has endured more pain than the average adult will in a lifetime. She has had thirteen facial surgeries to remove the Nevus and will have several more facial reconstruction surgeries to restore her face, nose, eye and lip to proper proportion and function.
