Bill writes in his journal. He writes about the situation facing the Cohen and Callaway families, the protest march in Louisiana, his family, and other things on his mind.

Friday, September 21, 2007, 4:19 a.m. (couldn't sleep), Nashville, Tennessee~

Dear Journal~

Bill here. Couldn't sleep, so I decided to get on the computer while the gettin's good.

I am not doing too well. Oh, my back is (first time it hasn't hurt in so long), but the rest of me is falling apart. Have been having more trouble with my knees (fell the other day at work; I'm still feeling it; wasn't hurt, but I was embarrassed, as I fell in front of a group of people, including my boss; my knee buckled, and down I went), and my asthma has been acting up more; have been using my inhaler more than usual.

Emotionally I am a wreck too. I am worried about Naomi (Cohen) and Audrey (Callaway): their daughters (Rebekkah and Susie) apparently signed a "suicide pact" and both tried to take their lives; both girls are now in a hospital in London, fighting for their lives. Susie might make it, but Rebekkah is still hanging on by a tenuous thread; it doesn't look so good for her.

Ever since I heard about the news (from my wife), I have been on my face in prayer. I don't know what these two young ladies were thinking, but it's gotten our family pretty shaken up. Johnny and Ronee' are in tears, and the rest of the kids are walking around in a dace; they don't know what to do or to make of the situation.

I am praying like nobody's business to God for a Miracle in this situation...

I have been following the story in Jena, Louisiana, where six black teenagers are at the center of a controversy that's boiled into flat out protests. Apparently some white students killed a fellow student, and yet they got away with it while six black teens were charged; now there's a public outcry of rage, and it's devided this small central Louisiana town *pfffft* right down the middle. It's a regular mess. Yesterday they had a huge march; I was scared there'd be violence or bloodshed, but it appears that there wasn't any, thank goodness. People came from as far away as Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas to partake in this protest march.

I will have to pray for the safety of Jena, Louisiana, and her citizenry...

On the home front, the family is fine. Kids getting bigger, wife getting big of belly (she is getting miseable now; any effort on her part causes shortness of breath; I'm getting concerned about her), grandkids getting older. The youngest ones (Tyrone and Tyrell) are walking and talking now; seems like only yesterday when they were tiny, helpless little babies. Jamie, the oldest one, is still battling with MD; she is using a wheelchair, and it is heartbreaking to see her health declining. One only wonders what the future holds in store for her; if she will even HAVE a future...

It is nice, though, having Louie home from work, but it doesn't make it easier when she can't do anything; the work load is still piled high on yours truly as well as Maman and Papa Moliere'; it's no wonder we are on the verge of collapse. Thank GOD for the older kids still left at home; they help out, and they do a wonderful job. We are so proud of them!

School has started fast and furious, so it won't be long before the kids start rising to face yet another school day. It will take at least an hour to get all of them up, fed, medicated, and ready in time for the school bus!

So far, the kids are doing well, thank goodness. I pray this continues.

Last Friday was the local high school's first football game of the season; they won 24-7. Barbara threw for three touchdown passes; she did super! This is her last year in school; it won't be long before she starts college. (She'll probably start college next fall. *Sighhhh* Seems like only yesterday when Barbie was a small 11-year-old tomboy; now she's a lady--in a football uniform, no less!--; and she's going to be 19 years old next year.)

I wonder how the team will do tonight; we'll just have to wait and see...

Poor Ronee' is bogged down with homework; she is struggling with Algebra and Applied Social Studies. Oh, she is getting good grades and all, but the classes are harder than she anticipated; she is thinking of dropping out of the ASS class LOL (as she calls it); she doesn't like the teacher, and she says it is beyond her level of intelligence, which is a shock because she's a certified genius! Now if a GENIUS has trouble in a class, something's most definitely wrong!

Johnny is understandably worried about his girlfrind, Rebekkah. Ever since he heard about it he's become withdrawn, totally silent. He is scared for her, and I am scared for HIM because I am afraid that this is going to be detrimental to his (already fragile) health. I am going to have to watch Johnny like a mamma hawk (or is it a pappa hawk, seeing I'm a man??)...

Jodie is facing some surgery in November: she is starting to get muscular contractures in her hands again; they are curling under more than ever, and it's causing her intense pain. To look at her hands makes ME hurt. It's minor surgery, but still--it's surgery, nevertheless.

The weather is finally starting to cool down; seems that the heat of summer is behind us. Still warm, but at least the heat wave we had earlier in the season is overwith. We are in dire need of rain though; any rains would be welcome here in the parched Southland! The leaves are starting to get a hint of fall color on them; won't be long before the area's trees will be ablaze with vibrance. Fall, yes...definitely one of my favorite times of the year!

It won't be long before our church will be looking ahead to the Harvest Festival, which we celebrate on October 31, to give our kids an alternative to the traditional Hallowe'en holiday. Oh, they still go trick and treating, but we don't emphasize so much on the scarier aspects of the holiday; we focus more on Christ-centered things and don't allow them to wear scary costumes. There's food, hayrides, music, games, contests, and fellowship; we always have a wonderful time.

I'm sure Pastor Bilkey will be making an announcement on Sunday about the upcoming Harvest Festival.

Well, gang, I am going to go back to sleep; let Maman and Papa Moliere' deal with the kids this morning. I'm flat. out. WIPED. I will talk to you later; take care and God bless!

O, that pic..that's just our new kitten. "Ricochet". Even that pic captures her mischevious personality; she's a little terror(-ist)! LOL Always on the go, always lookin' for trouble, that little one...

~Bill. :O *yawning*
