The next episode of old Phydoux comes as he tries to do poetry. You'll have to be the judge if he should keep going or go back to digging holes in my back yard.
Since I have become an author, I have started reading human authors. You all do pretty good – for people! One thing I noticed was the funny way you put things in lines and make them rhyme at the end of the lines. Sometimes they don’t rhyme. I haven’t figured that out. You expect us dogs to be more consistent than that. Anyway, I have been reading a lot of poetry. I’m going to see how good I can do. How’s this:
Roses are red
violets are blue
I have fleas
how about you?
Not too good? Well that was just my first attempt. Give me a chance. Check this one out:
We give them birth and nurture them
we are there when they start to walk
they wake us up both day and night
and don’t even know how to talk
They are always growing on you
and they are so hard to appease
they just never leave us alone
they are not puppies – they are fleas
I guess all my poems seem to be about fleas. You humans write about things that stir in your life and it is fleas that stir in my life. I don’t have time to watch sunsets. As the sun goes now, I have a hind leg in the air and I’m biting after those critters. When a pretty rainbow reaches across the sky I’m usually scratching behind an ear with my hind leg. This keeps me from those moments of deep inspiration.
Perhaps this is why you haven’t read any poetry by dogs. There have been some famous dog poets you should try to study. Let me give a short list:
“Shake” Spear
a dachshund named, “Long little Fella.”
Ezra Dog Pound
Alfred “Will you stop that” Noyes
Oliver Wendell Dog Houses
Sir Walter Scottie
Joyce Kilmer (not a poet but the poem “Trees” endears all dogs.)
Funny...Maybe you and Rufuz could get together and do a collaboration on fleas.
Good job Phydoux!!

Larry,
Get the address for the "Weirdness Juice", we may be able to market this stuff! Tell Phydoux I send my sympathies regarding the fleas, but, you know the old saying, "better you than me!" (LOL)
Have a great evening
Chris
Ok, you've really had too much of that "weird" poet's juice. You better go to a PAW (poet's annonymous withdrawal) group meeting!
And, it that doesn't help try a FLEA group meeting (frigid laughter escaping awkwardly).
By the way, your first order of the patented "Weirdness Juice" is in the mail.
I’ve encountered many non-human creatures on my life’s journey.
I have found each and every one of these animals to be a unique and wondrous being.
Animals have truly brought fullness to my life. Some of them have also brought de
