Treasure Ortiz writes another entry into her brand new journal.

Hi! Remember me?

If not, my name is Treasure Ortiz. I am eight years old, live in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with my family.

As you know, I have cerebral palsy and walk on crutches; sometimes use my wheelchair, but I'd much rather use my crutches; it's easier and a lot more convenient.

I've had this, cerebral palsy, all my life. I have therapy twice a week, just so's my muscles don't stiffen up.  It helps me move better. It's a pain, but it's something that must be done to help me.

I'm in the second grade.  My best friend is Taylor George. She's Greek.  One of the best things is  sometimes she invites me to her house for souvlaki or other Greek dishes, which are very tasty.

Tay Tay and I have known each other for a few months now, but it's like we've known each other forever.  She and I hit it right off. She's cool.

TayTay doesn't mind that I can't walk as well. I like that. Too many times kids will pick on me, which is mean.  The best thing to do is ignore them as best as I can. It's hard, though. TayTay will get mad at the mean kids, tell them to stop teasing me. They usually back off.

Today I am excited: we are going to go to Oklahoma City and go to the zoo. I have never been there before, but I have always wanted to go. I love animals; my favorite animal is the cheetah. I hope they have cheetahs there; if they do I am going to be very, very happy!

Tay Tay's going with me, so the day is going to be even more special.  Her favorite animal?  Snakes!  I'm not crazy about snakes.

That's after we go to church. First it's church, then it's the zoo.

Well, I am going to go now; back to bed. Early, but who can sleep when there's a trip to the zoo in order?? Not me!! Bye for now; will write in here again!

~Treasure Ortiz. :)

Oh--the puppy?  My new pet.  I named him Taco.  He's a licker.  Makes me laugh.  I love him!

Sweet and authentic in its concentration on normally what should be a carefree childhood. At least she's upbeat and positive despite the illness. Cheers

Hey Treasure, I am not crazy about snakes either, but my one of my favorites are Bengal Tigers!!!!!
Hope you get lots and lots of friends, life is easy that way.

Awwwwwwwww, cute puppy. Lick, lick, lick...LOL Puppy licks, the BEST! Okay, okay, along with kitty purrs. :)

ANYway, Karen, a very well written journaling from a little girl determined to overcome the odds given her. She lives with C.P., is not lived BY C.P. BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
