We shouldn't be surprised that as soon as Phydoux discovered the internet --- he has discovered email. Well, I guess I'll let him tell you.
I told you that I just discovered the internet. Guess what? There’s another dog in the vast internet highway who has sniffed out the emails and has sent me a message. I don’t know if it is a boy dog or a girl dog. The user name was: “Iscratchfleas.” He/she said “I have been itching to find another dog to talk to.” Being such a tolerant dog, I didn’t say anything about the ending of a sentence with a preposition. They say the internet has ruined grammar anyway. I hate those who want to try to correct my spelling and grammar on line anyway.
Iscratch said that his/her (I’m getting tired of that stuff – I’m just going to say “him”). Anyway, he said he got started with the computer like I did and he, too, has to sneak around to get the use of the computer when the master is not around. He said it is helpful having another dog to talk to about this kind of things. It seems that other dogs are content to chase rabbits and cars. They aren’t as intellectual as we are.
It’s hard for us to really get to know each other on line. You humans need emoticons. Those do nothing for us. We can’t get to know each other through pictures. We need to sniff each other. That’s where we build up relationship. How can I know I can trust him if I can’t smell him. We need some smellicons.
We have to go slow with each other because we don’t want to come on as a predator. Of course, unless he lives in the neighborhood, we aren’t going to be able to meet each other. It’s not like either of us could get on a plane and fly to meet the other. We still both seem to be cautious. So I guess we’ll just exchange emails and perhaps we’ll get to know each other soon.
Now I can already hear it. “Hey, Phydoux, give us your email address so we can talk with you!” Whoa, back. I’m not too sure about giving out that information to humans. There’s a trust issue here. You might tell my owner. Until we can get those smellicons, I’m going to have to be extra cautious. Call me all the names you want to, but I’m not letting anyone get their paws on that important information. But I do promise to keep you updated on what is happening with old Iscratchfleas and me. Until that time, hold on to your dog biscuits!
I'm so happy for you Phydoux. But, I hate to burst your bubble - Iscratchfleas is a pen name for the local dogcatcher. He's been trying to get you for years, but you always manage to get into your yard as he rounds the corner of your street. Just couldn't let you go on thinking that a dog's world is really that great.
Stick to your computer, and quit trying to sniff out other dogs. There is no other dog as smart and computer literate as you.
