     whisper

You lean into me, lips pressed against my ear. "Beautiful," you whisper. My eyes follow your line of sight. A doe, barely visible, wide, midnight eyes stare back from the thicket. I gasp, the very breath of my life startles..her. Eyes blink for a second then she is gone. All that remains is my breath, wispy in the frigid air until it, too, evaporates.

Lisa, this piece is exceptional. Not one wasted word, and yet you conveyed so much. Absolutely lovely.

This is doubly exceptional write to anyone who has experienced wildlife close up and personal. Though I used to be an avid hunter, I once came across a bull moose in the wild, close enough that I could actually look into his eyes. I lowered my rifle and laughed as he strolled away his wattle beard shaking from side to side.
