Dear Louisa~
Thanks so much for the update; it is nothing short of a miracle!! I am so happy for Naomi; glad to know she is awake; but if I know Naomi, she will get her movement, her feeling back! God's gotten her through so much, and He will continue to do so!
Your sister has been on our minds a lot this week (as have you; I know this is hard on you, too!). She is on our prayer list at my church; in fact, there are probably several churches who are praying for Naomi's recovery. So she's covered in prayer; don't you worry about a thing! God is going to take care of it!
Johnny is doing better; still hates getting suctioned, though. Don't blame him, really. He is still healing, so he can't speak above a whisper; it's really frustrating him.
He's tired of doing sign language; he'd rather speak! He's been going to school this week, and he has his portable machine with him; his brother helps him every so often so he doesn't run the risk of getting pneumonia.
Johnny's breathing is vastly improved; his color is the best it's been in months. It's like he's gotten a new reprieve in life; it's nothing short of a miracle!
Now when his throat heals, we have a feeling we will never be able to shut him up! LOL
Ronee' got her bandages taken off two days ago; her poor hands look like they've been through a war! No wonder she's grouchy! They look like they really hurt! She's started her physical therapy, to try to get her hands moving, and it's no picnic. Ronee' cries and complains the whole time! Yet she will soon reap the benefits of having this done: she'll soon be able to move her hands without searing pain, and Ronee' can soon get back to using her crutches again.
Ronee' will eventually get back to her canes, but for now, it's the crutches.
She's been using her wheelchair since just before she went in to have her surgery. She can walk without her crutches, but not for very long. Her ankles are weak.
Eventually the doctors want to redo her ankles down the road, which will be a piece of cake compared to the surgery that she just had!
Just got some good news from my friend Tottie (she lives in Australia): she has a boyfriend now! She met him over Thanksgiving; they are very happy, madly in love with each other!
And get this: Kat Hammer, my friend in Alaska, may be pregnant; she finds out today if this is true ! She called me last week, gave me the news; says she's missed her monthly, and says her breasts are getting bigger, so who knows??
That's how I found out I was pregnant last year; now I have two healthy baby boys, and they are the lights, the joys of my life!
My boys are now nearly two months old, cute as bugs. They now weigh seven pounds each, and they look just like me--but with daddy's long limbs; have a feeling that Isaiah and Ian are going to be very tall, just like their daddy!!
The kids are all well; they help out with the babies, so I'm not left with most of the caretaking. The girls are great with feeding/diapering, the boys are great with entertaining them, making them laugh. I have such a great group of kids!
Now, Emir is getting used to the idea that he's no longer the baby boy of the family; still, he does get jealous now and then. He's adjusted beautifully, and he's stopped using his prosthetic limbs as weapons if mad or upset. Thank GOD! LOL Hard to believe that he's just past the age of two!!
Vincente, our (former) foster son, is now ours; he became a permanent member of our Rainbow Family just before Christmas. We had an "Adoption Party" for him; he LOVED the attention, the cake, the presents! He was in his glory!! LOL
Now Vincente has two baby brothers, and he loves them so much!
Well, I am going back to work; slow day. Only have two patients, and they're both doing (fairly) well. As long as no unforseen problems develop, I'll be okay. (Working the CCU, Coronary Care Unit, today. So it's no surprise I hear the sound of heart monitors even when I sleep! LOL) Time to get my patients' vital signs.
Will write back soon; take care, give Naomi my love and prayers, and please take care of YOURself; we don't need YOU getting sick on top of everything that's happened!

as usual Karen your writing is so realistic or should I say non fiction like, anyway nice little mouse picture. But I just read this article on the web, they found the bones of a one ton rodent that lived thousands of years ago. I guess we would have been a tasty meal for him, glad he's extent hugs
You have such a realistic journaling style Karen. There is a lot of peace when reading your stories. Maybe that's why I don't comment on them as much because they truly are consistent, and very very YOU! Not much leaves me speechless but when you write an article/fictional/etc. there's just not a lot left to be said. It's all laid out, just so well balanced. And it's fresh every single time. My congrats to you because you've got SO much more going on as a writer than you know. People in story festivals are a great market for you. Think about that, and move on it before Spring and Fall Literary Festivals hit the calendars!
