A young girl writes about herself for a school assignment.

My name is Taggot Rose Wilson. Don't ask me where I got the weird first name: my parents named me; ask them!

I am ten years old. I live with my family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I have my parents Tony and Mirna, and my sisters Nickole and Rayven (they're eight and six), as well as my brothers Hunter and Nickolas (they're five and two). In addition, we have an Old English Sheepdog we call "Boy".

I am like any other ten-year-old: that is, I like to listen to the latest music (for me, it's the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus all the way; I just LOVE them!!), dance, watch "American Idol" or "Dancin' With The Stars" on tv, spend time on the computer, or sleep in on weekends. LOL

I am in the fifth grade at Thompson Taylor Elementary. My best friends are Iris and Gracie Quitman, and I'm also friends with Heather Vida and Yacintha Morales. My teacher is Ms. Hammond, and she's really good. I really like her a lot!

What I don't like is the kids making fun of my name. They call me "Maggot", which drives me insane. I also don't like it when they make fun of my little brother Hunter, who has spina bifida and uses a walker to get around.

He was born with this spina bifida.

Sometimes I get so mad at those bullies I end up beating them up, and then I'm the one in trouble. Our school has a "zero-tolerance" for violence or bullying, so sometimes I end up in detention.

It's nothing to be proud of, let me assure you!!

I do, however, have to defend my brother. If I knew of a different way to deal with those bad kids, I'd do it!!

When I grow up, I want to help kids who are like my brother. I think they are already given a raw deal in life; I want to make things better for people with disabilities. It would make them feel good, and it would make me feel good, too. I think that'd be cool.

Well, I gotta go: school bus due to come within the hour. I have to get dressed too; still in my pajamas. Also have to wolf down my breakfast, that way I won't be falling asleep in class. LOL Will write in here another time; take care, and God bless!

An odd name ! I wonder how some one could name their child that.. It would have been a better 2nd name. Poor kid is bound to be picked on ,, just like a boy named ,,SUE.........m

Having been to Jackson Hole, I'd say that's a fine place to live. As for your name, I would be interested in hearing how your parents came up with it. You could always do what my wife does, and start using your middle name, Rose. She hates her first name, too!

Yes, I agree with Rose. Bullying is wrong and hurts. Whoever said, that "sticks and stones" thing didn't know what they were talking about. Words can hurt more than physically sometimes.

Bullying is wrong and kids have to understand that, Names can hurt but the parents have to be told so they can put a stop to this right away. What so many don't stop to understand is that even though some may be born with disibilities they still have a heart to love, ears to hear and eyes to see. I guess God made us pretty equal. Bullying, zero tolerance for it, remember Columbine and others, not that this will be the case, but bullying can drive a child to the breaking point and most of the time scar them for life with all kind of emotional ailments that some times become physical ones. Bullies don't only damage one person. Georg

This is really a heroic story of Taggot who is willing to risk problems for himself to defend his brother. Sometimes we do have to fight. I believe that as much for individuals as our nation believes with regard to war. They need to change the rules in school. With their "zero-tolerance_ for bullying, it doesn't matter who throws the first ridiculing and destructive words--only who throws the first punch. I hope some leniency is offered in view of the circumstances of such cases as Taggot's.

Karen, "If I knew of a different way to deal with those bad kids, I will!" I'm sure Taggot would - if we were taught differently by out parents, maybe there would be no teasing, no bullying - I don't know.
