Young Aama takes some time to write in her journal before helping her family with the chores.

Dear Book-of-Words~

Aama here.  Just woke up, not even ten minutes ago, so if this ends up sounding stupid, now you know why.  My brains aren't awake yet. Come to think of it, neither is the rest of me. LOL

I am sure before too long, Mother or Father will be bellowing to have me help them.  Seems they always find something for me to do.  If it isn't dusting or vacuuming our house, I'm taking care of my little brothers or the dogs.

One good thing:  school is over.  I am so glad; I hated the school I was going to.  I'd give anything to go to an all-Inuit school further north; at least I'd be among my own kind of people, don't have to worry so much about the stupid Dog Children treating me like a fool!!

The auroras have calmed down; soon they will be gone until the fall season.  No more red auroras; they have been in a friendly mood lately--all green, yellow, or pink, with splashes of white and blue; really pretty.  I look at them, feel sad, because Grandfather Elk and Grandmother BirdWoman dance among them, it makes me miss them more.

Weather here very cold: temps in forties, with cold rains, other times, pretty and sunny out, but too cold to enjoy.  Mother is always afraid I am going to get sick again.  It's been a bad year for sickness for me, not to mention, the rest of the family.

Well, Mother is up:  I hear her, hear her talking to the little kids, telling them to get up.  I guess that means I will be taking care of them until she makes breakfast, she wants me to keep them out of her hair while she's cooking in the kitchen.  They can be such pests, and I am good with them.  I will write in here again soon; take care, and may the spirits bless you!

~Love, your Inuk friend, Aama, aged 13 winters. :)
