     Stinko continues to share his escapades he's experienced in his journal since his last entry last month.

Thursday, August 14, 2008, Nashville, Tennessee, 6:45 a.m.~

Dear Journal~

Stinko here.  Sorry for not writing, but I have been busy.  Hope you forgive me.

My side has healed from where I got smacked by that firework shell during the Fourth of July festival our city had.  It turned out I did have to go to the Emergency Room:  my side was hurting too bad.  I ended up cracking two ribs; had to get 'em taped.  Only me would get injured by a fireworks shell!  It was interesting--not to mention very painful!!

Once I got over the initial first days (to a week) after the injury, I was okay; every day got better, and I had less pain, difficulty in breathing.  It could have been a whole lot worse than it was; I am truly fortunate.

I'm now staring at the first day of school, which commences in a few short weeks.  Hard to believe how summer has just flown by; it's gone by way too fast for my liking!  I am not looking forward to school; to me, school's nothing but a huge waste of time!

Ma and Pa have gotten me some of my back to school supplies; they say I have to take the initiative to get the rest of my stuff on my own; they aren't made of money.  I agree there; they aren't rich, but they aren't poor either (might as well be, the way the cost of everything keeps going up and up!).  They're stuck right in the middle.

They're even hinting that I start looking for a job.  A job that can teach me responsibility, how to manage (what little) money I already get (get $5.00 a week for allowance), and a job that can help me get out of the house.  I think they are getting sick of me just hanging about like a drunken slug.

Well?? It's summer; you're supPOSED to hang out, veg out, do what you's want!!  D'oh!!

I know they mean well, but my parental units are starting to bug me.  Let me enjoy what's left of my summer break instead of spoiling it by mentioning a J-O-B!!!!  'Sides, I'm not even sixteen yet; won't be sixteen until December!!

I have been getting a lot of serious B-ball, swimming in.  I'm really dark now; I look like I'm Mexican or something (si, senor! LOL).  I look gooooooooooooooooood! :)  I am still skinny as a post, eat like a horse, can't seem to get any meat on my bones, no matter how hard I try!

I have given up trying to pursue Ronee' Reaux; she's too busy with her life.  *Siggghhh*  I think she's one of the foxiest girls on the planet:  short, cute, built in just all the right places.  She's going to break a lot of hearts when she's older (if she isn't already).  Now I have to look for another girl, but who wants to go with a kid named Stinko???

I wish I were a dog; chicks can't resist dogs, especially when they give 'em the ol' soulful eyes routine!  I can do that really well! LOLOL

Have been spending a lot of time at MySpace; have a page there, have already accumulated a good group of friends.  It's cool meeting people from other places, other nations; it's kind of like an Olympics for the cyberspace crowd (friendly rivalry between nations).  If there's ever an Olympic medal for cyberspace, MySpace would take the gold, hands down (although I hear rumors that FaceBook, another networking site, may surpass them; it's really roarin' up in popularity).

If I'm not playing b-ball or swimming (or even skateboarding), I'm on the computer, especially in the evenings.

Well, ma is making breakfast, so I'll go now.  The smells have just hit my nose, and I am going to go downstairs, to the kitchen, and raid the pancakes that she's cooking! YUM!  I will write in here again soon; take care, and God bless!

Ahh summer has to come to an end and the thoughts of a new school year is in the air. Another great writ Karen. Thank you for sharing.

Great story. Young stinko sounds normal and intelligent. I like Mama's idea about him getting a job. In my teens every teenager I knew worked in the summer and after school when they could get jobs. It was as natural as eating since our parents couldn't afford to give us generous allowances. I think its good training for kids to work while they're still in school and have to deal with the public and learn how to budget their money instead of spending it.

Good read for today. Getting ready for school can be tiring. I know my grandkids are bored by now and want school to start. The summer has gone by so fast. Hope you enjoy what is left of it too.
