Kat writes in her journal upon arising. It's three in the morning where she's at; she can't sleep, so she decides to write.

Saturday, August 23, 2008, 3:56 a.m., Fairbanks, Alaska~

Dear Journal~

Kat here.  Just woke up; can't go back to sleep, so I decided to write in here; haven't written in a few weeks or so.

Happily, Frank's recovered from his migraine; he hasn't had any problems.  I think it was caused by the stress at work; been crazy-busy there lately, and it just caught up with him.  Doc gave him some new meds to try to help him; so far it seems to be working.

I'm getting rounder and rounder.  Every day it seems like my stomach is getting more noticeable.  It's getting harder for me to breathe, so doc has put me on oxygen therapy.  Nice.  More restrictions put upon me.  I'm also on bedrest until the birth of our baby boy.  I'm grounded.  *boo-hiss!*

The only time I can get out of bed is when I have my doctors' appointments or things like that; otherwise, I'm grounded to these four walls and my bed in my bedroom.  When I AM up, I have to use my chair (but then, I've always used my chair, excepting for very short trips--and then it's on my crutches).

Remember the guy I wrote about last time, the one who was shot in the butt by his buddy while hunting?  Well, he's recovered, but I'm sure he has some nice buckshot imprints on his butt! LOL  Still makes me laugh when I think of it!!  LOL

Weather here is rainy, ugly, miserable:  not fit for man or beast (unless you happen to be a duck! *QUANHK* LOL).  It's been like this for the past few days.  I hope the sun comes out; I miss it!

Frank has been a dear helping me, his poor invalid wife, since being told I can't leave my bed.  Too much of a risk, doc says; if I fall, I could deliver early, and that would spell trouble for both mama and baby.  Not good.  This is why I'm to stay in bed; I'm too high risk.  I am afraid I haven't been really nice to him; have been a growly-bear lately; yet he takes it like the man he is.  He tolerates a lot in life, especially abuse from me! LOLOLOL

Thank GOD I have "Aurora", our kitty, to hang on to when I need a good cry.  Of course, I only end up getting her fur wet with my tears, but she just licks 'em away, and purrs comforting purrs in my ears, which always makes me feel better.

I am wishing I was in Lafayette, Louisiana, about now:  LeCajun started up, goes this entire weekend.  I've been there once, would love to go back!  Went there the year before Katrina (2004), had a ball!  Don't even remember who I saw back then, but I did enjoy watching the people swirl across the dance floor and hearing all that pretty Cajun music!

I am sure Louie and her brood are there.  They go every year.  Must be nice!  I'd give anything to go back to LeCajun!!

At least I have my Cajun music CD's.  I could have my own personal fais do do here in my room, but I'll just do my dancing in bed, or dance in my head.  Legs don't work no more, ya know.  Or when up, I could dance in my chair; not a problem.  LOL

Frank loves Cajun music almost as much as me.  I've indocrinated my husband into my Cajun world, and now he can't get enough of the food OR the music.  Or, as he likes to say, I corrupted his mind. LOL

Frank is out for his jog; he runs at least ten miles every morning, rain, snow, sun, all kinds of weather.  Nothing slows his need for exercise down; he's extremely health conscious (which is more than what I can say for me; I'm a regular couch potato!! LOL).  He should be back in an hour or two:  just as long as Mr. Bear doesn't decide to have my husband for a snack!  That would NOT be good!!

I pray like thunder every time he goes out, pray that the bears leave him alone!  So far it's helped; I pray it continues!

I have some very sad news to share:  my friend, Sikik Eegeesiak, who lives in Barrow, is dying.  She has an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis, the kind that kills.  I am most upset at the news; Sikik is too young to go through so much!  Her brother, Mattak (or however it's spelled) wrote to me, explaining the details of her illness, and it's all very upsetting.  I cry everytime I think of it; she doesn't deserve to be dying like this!!

No wonder I hadn't heard from her!  Now I know why (and I wish I didn't!!).

Mattak says it can be any day now, or maybe in a few weeks to a month.  He says she's bedridden, requires 24 hour care.  She's extremely weakened, is in a great deal of pain.  She's suffering, and it breaks my heart!

Well, I'm going to go back to sleep.  I've managed to depress myself, thinking of Sikik.  I will write in here again; can't see for the tears that're threatening to fall from my eyes.  Until later, take care and God bless!

~Love, Kat. :(

When Kat has that baby she will forget all the months of bed rest, and cherish the life that she carried for months and brought into this world.

Good write but hard on the eyes to read, may want to consider changing colour of font to a little darker one.

Once again, this feels very real. All the things in one's life:
daily worries, health, friends, relationships, kids, home, pets...
you observe them and "see" people's lives. I see this as a form of love.
