Michiko updates us on what's been going on in her life.

Weds., Aug. 27, 2008~

Dear Journal~

Michiko O. here.  Hope this finds you well; I am doing okay, all things considering.  Busy working, trying to get bills paid on time.  You know:  the usual.

I am enjoying my new place, getting to know the neighbors.  I've made some wonderful friends, and for the first time in a long while, I am very content.

I pray this continues.

Haven't answered some of my e-mails; work keeps me focused, grounded.  Too tired afterwards, for one thing! LOL  I have been working extra hours; am not home much anymore.

I know I have to write Louisiana Sandusky, the nurse who took care of me when I'd been injured by that one tornado a few years back.  She probably thinks I've moved or died.  LOL  She's been so loving, so supportive of me; friends like her are very hard to find!

I just have to take the initiative, prod myself into doing it.  :)

House is a mess; I know there's stuff all over.  My friends say I'm a regular slob.  Well?  It's kind of hard to keep a clean house when you can't see, for one thing! LOL

Weather still hot, but at least the mornings are cool.  A sure hint of signs to come; won't be long before fall arrives.  Good; I'm sick of this long, hot summer already!

According to the Farmer's Almanac, and also Noaa, the National Weather Service, they're predicting a colder than normal winter for a good part of the US.  Good; I can stand to use some cooler weather!

Met a guy at work; he wants me to go on a date.  I don't know yet; I'm too shy, for one thing, and it takes me a while to warm up to people I don't know.  I will have to do some serious thinking on this.

The man's name is Kazuhiko.  Kazuhiko Nagasaki.  Good, strong Japanese name, hunh! LOL  He seems nice, but I don't know if I'm ready to commit myself to a relationship just yet.

Besides, I'm still embarrassed about being visually impaired; I still have my "poor, poor-pitiful-me-feel-sorry-for-the-blind-chick" days.  I don't want my being blind to scare him off; that would be too terrible to think about!

Well, I am at work as I write this; cigarette break is over.  I will write again soon; take care and God bless!

~Michiko. :)

Sorry if this isn't much of an entry, but I don't have much of an exciting life! LOL

Sounds like she is going to do okay, accepting limitations and finding other strengths to compensate. When we have new found disabilities it does take a while to realize we can't do all we once did and it is difficult to adjust to.
