“He is sooo good looking,” Julie said.
“I don’t care, I’m a married woman with a husband in Iraq,” Lyn said.
“Give him to me then.”
“You can have him! I don’t want him stalking me any longer.”
“He’s one of the few men I’ve seen who has a butt,” said Julie.
“Ross has a butt,” Lyn said.
Julie laughed. “Ross has two butts.”
Lyn gaped. “How do you know so much?”
“I am his sister, you know” said Julie. “I’d already seen his butt a hundred times before you ever dared to dream of it.”
“I dreamed of him last night. Of him over here and me in his big arms.”
Julie exhaled. “I hate that stupid war. All wars are stupid,” she said.
“I guess I’ll see him in nine months. It’s crazy. He says guys are signing up to go back!” Lyn said.
“Must be the money,” Julie said. “What else?”
The break room door swung open. It was Lyn’s “stalker”, Gus Hampton.
“How’s it going today?” he said.
Lyn spoke. “Umm, Gus, I know you’re new here, but I’m sure you’ve already met my sister-in-law, Julie. Right?”
Gus’ brows rose. “Met her? Yeah, of course, but I didn’t know you guys were related.”
Julie wanted to say hi but it was impossible not to notice Gus wouldn’t take his eyes off of Lyn. Rising from the table, Lyn said, “Well, we are Gus. And I’m glad you know now. See you guys.”
“Wait!” Julie said. “I’m leaving too.”
A grinning Gus turned toward the coffee machine and inserted coins.
