     a silly story

The inky darkness was broken by a sliver of promise.

A new day is beginning.

Alarm clocks are ringing all over the world at different times,

but still the urge to hit the snooze button is universal.

Sleep deprived workers get ready for another day of

the old grind.

What would happen if there were no alarm clocks or if

they didn't make that annoying blare in the morning that

kicks up the urge to throw the damn thing out the window?

Who invented this device or torture and pain?

Curiously, it was probably someone who

didn't have to be a slave to time!!

Rushing around to make it on time to someplace that

docks your pay if you are five minutes late, but for the ones

that boss you around, they can take two hour lunches

and can slip in late.

Double standard?

Yep.

Now, if instead of people running these corporations how

about a couple of orangatans?

Would they care if you were a little bit late because of traffic

or sleeping late?

Nope.

Just drop off a bunch of bananas and life's cool baby.

And just have keep the lions away from working in the

kitchen or else there will be a little bit of a fuss, okay?

Just keep any kind of coffee away from these

beasts because that would make things a little

wierd.  Especially on a Monday morning!

So, just water coolers please!

Noticeably, there are no clocks, because no one can tell

time. Time is not important.

Therefore, money wouldn't be that important either.

Soon, work would fall into the category of

boring and all would gather

at the soccer field and there would be a fun

fill afternoon of soccer in the parking lot

because now there are no cars!

Giraffe starts off the soccer game...

It's alot of ruff and tumble, growling and

running and of course, lion gets mad

when he loses the goal and suddenly

takes it out on dog,

One less team member...

Lion is sidelined by giraffe  Put in a cage so

he can't get back in the game.

Too bad lion.

Play fair says orangatan or you don't

play soccer.

Just a roar from Lion.

On with the game!

No score keeper because no one

can count, just rushing back and forth

to imaginary goals and kicking the

soccer ball and just having

fun. Or what they think is fun.

They don't know the real rules

for soccer but its just fun

for them.

Lion roars in his cage while the orangatans,

monkey, zebras, giraffes, elephants and

a couple of parrots play on!

Well, I must say the parking lot looks quite

different after this imaginary "soccer game"

I am sure ....

Who won?

I have no idea because my

alarm clock  went off....

I gotta get to work....

wake up silly....

Katie, the idea of this piece is excellent. I think it needs
to be expanded, and presented in story form; i.e. paragraphs,
etc. I like it but I have a feeling you consider it a throw-away,
a tale you try to end too soon. Try a bit more discipline, here
and in your other writes, and I think you can be a wonderful
story teller. You got the talent. Take a little more time to
develop it. -gene.

Loved it Katie but...I have to say being forced into early retirement I would love to be back and listening for the alarm to go off every morning. I always dreamed retirement equated with fun but without the dollars to do the things you want it is just a long slow moving second hand. Liked the origianality of this though.
