Bill writes in his journal about the mounting frustrations at work, and other things.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008, Nashville, TN., 5:49 a.m.~

Dear Journal~

Bill here.  Thought I'd write in here while the gettin's good.

Today I am off work, thank the Lord!!  Work has been a real booger bear lately.  Between dealing with shoplifters, irate customers who "demand to see the manager" or take their frustrations out on me, kids running amuck all over the store, or people needing the services of the local EMS or fire departments, I have had it clear up to past my eyebrows at times!!

I love my job, but not when people try to take advantage of me or other employees!  We work just as hard as they do, if not even harder at times, and yet we're supposed to just stand back, take all this nonsense??  I don't THINK so!  (If I did, I'd run the risk of being fired, so I just keep it all in, to keep the peace.  No wonder my blood pressure's through the roof!)

The last time I saw my doctor (three months ago), he was concerned about my blood pressure.  He told me maybe I need to find another job.  Maybe so, but he seems to be forgetting that I'm disabled; people don't want to hire me because they don't think I can do anything for myself because I'm on crutches.

Or they see my crutches first before getting to know, see the real me, what I can do.  It never fails, and it frustrates me to no end!!

I'm also in my forties; I'm considered to be "too old" by most people's standards:  they want teenagers or those in their twenties, as opposed to someone who's older or has the experience, like they feel that people are expendable!

Suddenly chasing fifty plus kids seems like (ahem) "child's play" compared to all the nonsense I've put up with lately at Wally World!!

The last time I wrote, I told you about the young shoplifter we corralled.  Well, it happened again the other day, this time a thirteen-year-old boy.  If that wasn't bad enough, the boy also pulled a knife on one of the greeters.  I saw it happen with my own eyes.  In my fright, I dialed 911, and the cops were on scene within moments, where they quickly took the boy from the premesis.

Meanwhile we were left with a scared employee whom we had to try to calm down.  She ended up going home for the rest of the day; I think she quit because we haven't seen hide nor hair of her since.

The boy was caught stealing an iPOD.  He had it in his ears, not thinking, as he was jamming to the tunes.

I knew it was just opened because the price tag was still dangling off the end of it.  BUSTED.

Our annual church Fall Festival is approaching quickly.  Not much time to get things organized, going, ready in time for the celebration at hand.

The booths for the games, the rides, the construction of the stages, amongst other things are in full swing.  Candies and other foods for the event are overflowing in our church lobby or are safely ensconced in the church freezer/'fridge for safekeeping until it's time.  We've had a lot of help; the response has been nothing short of incredible!

We have a great church, and I am proud to be affiliated with Christ Community Assembly of God!!

I'm looking forward to the musical entertainment.  As you know by now, the Kevin Spencer Family is scheduled to be the main attraction that evening.  I love that group; every time I hear their song, "And The Blood Is Still There", I get encouraged!!  What a powerfully anointed song!

Our son and daughter are performing prior to the headline act; and we are looking forward to that too.  I am sure that they will do a good job; they always do! :)

Well, I am going to go back to sleep now.   Let Mama and Papa Moliere' deal with the kids; I'm tired!  (Louie is at work already; otherwise, I'd have her deal with them, but since she's gone, then grampa and granmere can deal with the little ones!  They're good with the kids!)  God bless; so long for now!

~Bill. :)

Employers just don't understand the frustrations of those wanting to work ... or if they are hired, what they face - they're far removed in their cozy offices. Well written, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Bill gives a good description of job stress and examples. Working in a job that caters to lots of people can't be easy. Good story, Karen.

At Least Bill does his job well and it is terrible that people can't seem to see past crutches, wheelchairs etc to find there is a real person under that disability. Thank you againg for sharing.

Newfie Hugs are on the way, Rose
