Dear Journal~
Bill here. Sorry for not writing; I've been slacking off on my journaling duties. LOL Hope this finds y'all well!
Me, I'm hurting all over; that's nothing new. Actually, my back is behaving itself: it's everything else that's falling apart. My knees, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, ankles are all competing for the pain version of "American Idol"! LOL *OW* LOL
This is when I hate having arthritis most of all; it really puts a "cramp" in my daily activities!
The kids are all fine; they're off from school today, on account of it being Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. They're off tomorrow, too, for the Presidential Inauguration. They will probably watch the events unfold on television, as will I. (Louie will miss it; she has to work tomorrow. She is off today; she's still sleeping as I write this.)
I fear for our nation once Obama gets in: I mean, the man may end up doing a very good job as the new President, but some of his ideals/beliefs still bother me. He's for gay rights, and the abortion issue (woman having the choice of getting an abortion up to seven months in their pregnancies) unnerves me to no end!
I just hope he delivers what he promises. It seems too many presidents in the past have promised to do things to better this country, and they've failed to deliver the goods. There have been some good Presidents in the past (Reagan, for one, also Dwight Eisenhower, Franklin Delano Rooseveldt, etc.), but what we have now doesn't even measure up to their caliber.
I didn't mind Bush, but I didn't like how he handled the (current) war in Iraq, and I wish he would have done more for our people here instead of taking care of the illegal citizens currently residing in our nation. He also should have done more for ALL of our veterans, not just those who were in Iraq!
Enough about my political views. Don't need to listen to me whine about that!! (And believe me, when it comes to politics, I am VERY vocal!!)
The weather here is chilly. Nothing new. Snow this week before warming up by the weekend; highs may reach the forties/fifties. That ought to feel good on my creaky joints! *Ahhhh*
I have been working at Wal*Mart; worked this past Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, off yesterday and today. Work again tomorrow through Thursday, then off Friday, Saturday, work Sunday. *groan*
I'm just thankful my employer lets me sit down on the job; it's just too hard for me to stand for long periods of time!
Yesterday at church, we met the new children's pastor, Mr. Zamboni. He came to us from Living Waters Christian Church, across the way; our former children's pastor left on account of personal reasons (his mother is dying from cancer). I pray he will be a blessing to our young people!
After church, we went out to eat at Cotton Patch Cafe'. We haven't been there in a long while; the food was really good, and we really enjoyed ourselves. We don't go out as much as we used to, thanks to the bad economy. Getting too expensive, especially for families like ours! (Even gift cards don't seem to go as far as they used to! *Sigggh*)
Well, Jodie is calling for me, so I will go for now. I guess I will start the day. I will write in here again soon. Take care, and may God bless you mightily!
....I have a good feeling about President Obama..I see excitement in the air across the nation and world..we need to all come together regardless..as right now we are sinking. Great write!
Thank God for those who've served, who give us the right to vote, to pray, to hope things get better for all. Is Obama the right man for the job? Only time will tell. I pray it is, but fear it may not be. An excellent journalling, very well penned.
Bill seems to be getting along well despite his handicap although I think he may be judging the President a little early. He is sure right though about the economy and going out...I wonder how these restaurants can survive.
Well said Karen. Like Bill, I still feel this whole thing is one gigantic charade; one big set up leading to this country's ultimate demise. I can pnly pray that I am wrong. Only time will tell. God bless.
An interesting write, Karen. Bill's political views have merit. I suppose many of us are living with some doubts now about what is going to happen during this next presidency. With our economy like it is, Obama will have to be either the best president we've ever had, or the worst. I don't think there will be room for any in-between during this presidency.

One of the things I've learned about politicians is that they are loose with the promises and tight with the follow-through. A political platform no longer offers much more than a dramatic performance prior to election.

Presidential candidates, like all candidates, say what they have to say to get elected. The President has very little power on his own. The real power is in the Congress. The reason Presidents don't do what they promise is because Congress has to go along, which is not always the case. People should not believe the rhetoric that goes on during a campaign at any level. It is not what a candidate says, but what he does after gaining office, which is usually too late. Lowell.
Bill, I too hope he can deliver what has been promises, then again, I have heard those promises all my adult life, so, sorry if I am a little cynical on the subject.
But yes, nobody with a sane mind can duplicate Bushy-boy political and economical shenanigans, not even on purpose! good ridance.
I, for one, won't miss Bush at all. To me, he has to go down as one of our worst Presidents, if not the worst. A truly abysmal record on the environment, on our valiant veterans, and, of course, on our now dreadful economy. I think it's truly time for Change, and I hope and pray it will be a good one.
Well I can understand some of his beliefs, as for Gay Rights that don't bother me, I believe in letting people live their lives how they choose as long as ther're not bothering me. Some of my best friends are gay, I've known too many men and women who marry and are either abusive or messing around on each other. I can't agree with abortions and to think of a baby 6 or 7 months fully developed sorry I can't accept that. Sorry to hear of your pain as I feel it too. The weather is so cold here.
