Dear Journal~
It is with a heavy heart that I pen these words in my journal. It is all I can do to keep from crying. I've cried so much these past few days it's a wonder I have any tears left.
My family is okay (and I'm grateful for that, even in light of Johnathon's recent hospital stay; he's doing better!); it's just that one of my dearest friends is now in the hospital, fighting for her life. She was med-evacked to Nashville Memorial Hospital, where she now lies in Intensive Care, fighting for her life.
Naomi Cohen suffered a stroke several days ago; it was a bad one. It is uncertain at this time whether she will pull through; it's still too early to call. She's in critical condition in our Neuro ICU, where doctors and nurses are fighting to help her beat this thing. She already has Frederick's ataxia, which makes her stroke even more dangerous; so many things can happen when you least expect them to.
Rebekkah and her father, Micah, are here; they are staying with Kendra and her family during this time. I've seen them both at the hospital; both look so old and worn out. My heart breaks for them; I wish I could do more for them, to give them some hope that Naomi is going to pull through!
I am off this weekend, but I keep in constant touch with my co-workers, to see exactly how Naomi is doing. So far she's holding her own, but she is still very sick; the only thing I can do now is pray, pray, pray!
I don't know why one family has to go through so much heartache. I thought our family went through trials; what this family has gone through makes my trials pale in comparison. I know God can get us through things, but I don't understand why He allows such bad things to happen to people! Maybe He does it to test our faith; I really don't know the answers to that. I wish I did, but I don't.
All I can do, in the meantime, is trust in Him and pray that things turn out for the best for Naomi.
Well, I have to go. I am going to try to get some more sleep before the troops rise to start the day; who knows how much more I will sleep before then. I might as well try to take advantage of the peace and quiet while I can. Until then, may God bless you and please keep Naomi Cohen (and us) in your prayers; we could really use a miracle about now! Thanks in advance!
