My name is Kaitlyn Nichole Babineaux, and I live in Gueydan, Louisiana, smack dab in Cajun Country, with my family.  I am sixteen years old.

My family consists of my maman (Peggy), father (Joe), papere (August), mamere (Therese), my three brothers (Randol, 18, Ryan, 15, and Cory, 13), and my two sisters (Heather, 12, and Jonquil, eight; she's the baby of the family).  In addition, we have two coon dawgs (Big Red and Sniper) and six cats (two Maine Coons [PeeWee and Eddie], one Norwegian Forest Cat [Olaf], and three "Heinz 57s" [Frisky, Furry, and Fitz]).

I am in the tenth grade at Gueydan Senior High School:  still have two more years to go before I graduate, in 2011.  I can't wait; I am getting sick of school!  LOL

I'm a typical teenager:  that is, suffice to say, I love gabbing on the phone with my friends, playing on the computer, reading, shopping, going out to eat or on a date with my boyfriend Toby Abshire (he's in my grade; he's sooo sexy-cool!!  He's a total babe!), and going dancing with my family (or with Toby if he invites me). 

I love the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, just like any teen girl; however, I also love Cajun music:  Belton Richard, BeauSoleil, Wayne Toups/ZydeCajun, JoEl Sonnier, and Jimmy C. Newman are some of my favorites.  Another one I like really well is Steve Riley.  (He kinda reminds me of Toby; they look alike!  LOLOLOL)

I have been going to Cajun dances (fais do dos) ever since I was a little girl, but when I'm with my friends, I listen to the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus:  they'd laugh me right out of school if they knew that I listened to Cajun music, particularly the older singers!  They call them "old fogies"; they don't do them at all!  LOL

I am happy to say that I am healthy and happy.  Nothing really bothers me:  I just take life as it comes, enjoy it.  I do have a friend who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair (she can't talk), but even with all of her problems, Angel is still a very happy girl.  I just love being around her; she can make me see how blessed I really am in life!  And I am! :)

Although my first name is really Kaitlyn, I prefer to be called Kate.  It suits me better.  Kaitlyn sounds more like a girl in frilly pink dresses or hair done up in pigtails or ponytails; that's not me.  I'm more of a tomboy sort. 

I do play sports; that's another thing I forgot to mention.  I'm on the school's fast pitch girl's softball league; our season just started, and we're something like 2-0.  I pray our winning streak continues.  If we do well this year we will be in the state tournament with a chance to go to the nationals, possibly even the world's, if we keep on winning.  We have a great team this year, and our coach is too cool; I just love him so much!

Well, I am going to run along now.  I'm in study hall as I write this; I should be studying not writing stupid stuff in a journal!  LOL  I will write again soon; I will continue my story then.  Until then, this is Kate Babineaux saying I'm outta here!  So long and God bless!
