     Short story about a workmate.

The case of God and the Virgin I know God. Moreover, we were workmates. He’s very tall and wears earrings, combs his hair and dresses like Elvis did. When he came in to the office for the first time to an interview with the manager he barged in, very decidedly, with the motorcycle’s helmet in his hand. He wore a black leather jacket full of iron drawing pins, rocker boots with spurs and steel tip. He signed a contract after the interview. His first working day he told everybody we should call him God, just so, in short, and everybody in the office concluded by calling him God. The owners of the company never denied him a payment in advance, in spite of the large amounts he always asked for. When he was in the mood of getting cash some money he told them he wanted to speak with them privately, and then they took him to the bureau, and there, in such a solemn ceremony that would have startled anyone, the money was handed to him. I think the owners felt even grateful to him. With the amounts of money he asked for and two months salary he bought a new sport car and a new last model motorcycle. Do you know why I do not believe in the Virgin? Because one day God was coming out from the manager’s bureau after getting cash one of his salary’s advancements. José Luis and Miguel his brother were in the bureau still when God came out counting up the notes with impudence and laughing. Then I went towards my table, passing by with a view of the bureau’s inside. It was unbelievable what I saw. José Luis and Miguel were in, standing up like statues looking frightened, as if they had been told they both were sons of the Virgin herself.
