Big, bright-blue eyes that miss very little. Long, silken fur the color of cream, accented with darker coloration on her ears, face, and tail, and four paws that are milky white, paws that look like she'd stepped in a bowl of cream. A soft, musical voice that is pleasant to the ears.
Yes, that is our Serendipity. Serendipity is a four-year-old female Birman cat; she wandered into our lives four years ago, when she was but a wee kitten. We found her on our front porch; the poor little thing was shivering from cold, and she was mewling piteously. We took pity upon her, and she soon adapted herself into our home--and our hearts.
Serendipity is a sweet-natured, easygoing kitty with a laid-back personality. Nothing really gets her fur raised up (except, perhaps, a playful cuff from our Doberman puppy, "Kingston", that is); she is one of the happiest kitties we have ever known.
Like most kitties, Sere sleeps a good part of the day while she is most active at night. She loves to play with balls of any sort, yarn, or climb up onto shelves; she has to see what is going on. She also loves playing fetch with our children, and nestling in their laps, where the kids stroke or brush her long, luxurious fur. She turns on the purr machine; she has one of the loudest purrs I have ever heard from a cat.
Serendipity loves anything seafood or fish-flavored: offer her anything else, and she turns her sweet little pink kittycat nose up in the air, sneezes, and then saunters away. She is a very picky eater; always has been ever since we've had her.
Serendipity has claimed our nine-year-old daughter as her "pet": seems that Kaylie and Serendipity are always together. We feel happy for them both because Serendipity is so accpeting of our daughter; she relates to her better than most humans, and our daughter will have a chance to be happy with a friend who doesn't judge her. (Kaylie has significant special needs: she is in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy: she cannot walk or talk.)
If only more people could see Kaylie as Serendipity sees her! Then the world would be a much nicer place!
Well, Kaylie is sleeping; it's time for me to get her up, so I can get her ready for her doctor's appointment (which is why she didn't have school today). I will write more about our kitty (as well as our family) in the near future; until later, this is Diane Wiggenbotham signing off! Take care, and may God bless you; He's certainly blessed me with a beautiful family, not to mention, a lovely kittycat!
~Love, your new friend in Hoboken, New Jersey, Diane Wiggenbotham. :)
