Gloriana Hughes here. I just wrote six days ago, telling you about our family (husband, Rick, son, Ricardo Michael, six, and our soon-to-be daughter, Liliana Xi Lin, from China). I am the older sister to Mattie Wright, who lives in Conyers, Georgia, with her family.
I am here to tell you that our daughter is coming sooner than expected. The adoption officials feel that her health is of the utmost importance: it is better that she get her heart repaired as soon as possible, or it will, more than likely, kill her. She is due to arrive in just days instead of just weeks, as I mentioned in my last entry.
As you can imagine, Rick and I are both scared, yet we are excited: we can't believe that in just a few short days, we will be holding our new little girl in our arms!! It looks like her crib will be getting good use sooner than we thought!
Little Liliana has a dream bedroom: pink and purple hues, with toys to greet her, as well as a loving family who will love her, kiss her tears/fears away when she is in the hospital, and supporting her as she recovers from her upcoming heart surgery. We knew it will be a very hard road for her; however, we will be with her every step of the way!
Liliana probably doesn't speak any English; we are willing to teach her. The feeling's mutual: we don't know any Chinese except "Ni hao ma" ("Hello; how are you?"). We will have to invest in an English-Chinese dictionary, so we can figure out just what she is saying!
The adoption officials have told us of her health problems. She is on oxygen at the current time; she will be on oxygen until she recovers. We will just have to take it easy with her and let nature take its course (and the help of doctors, of course, who will be donating their time to give her a more normal life).
Compared to what my sister Mattie went through with her adopted Vietnamese daughter, Korina Grace, two years ago, my daughter's life will literally be in the hands of medical professionals. What Mattie went through with Korina is nothing!!
We will have to wing a lot of prayers to Heaven, pray that God brings us all through this scary time that is coming up. Heart surgery is nothing to be taken lightly!!
Well, I have to go to the store and get some last minute items, so I will go. I will write in here again after Liliana arrives! Just pray she has a safe trip, and especially pray she makes it through all the tests and her surgery! We would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
