Life may finally be turning around for me.
My real-life sisters, QuaNeesha and Qu'i'ri'onka, are living with me and the family I am currently staying with; it's been a dream come true ! My prayers have finally been answered!
Shawn Perkins here. As you can imagine, I am past elated. This has been the best thing to happen to me ever since we got separated.
My sisters look good, and seem to be doing well, all things considering. They have been through so much this year, as I have. The time they spent with their previous foster family ran out; therefore, they had to go to a different family. Now they're with the Greenes; as a result, we are together again.
I am happy to say that Gideon, my youngest foster brother, came through his surgery. He is now back home from the hospital and is recovering very nicely. He has spina bifida.
I hear from Goon Perkins, my best bud, from time to time; sometimes he's even called me. It is so good to hear his voice, but it makes me a little homesick for the City. I wonder if it's cold up there (probably; it's November; it's usually cold that way this time of year). I wonder what Goon and our friends are doing. I wonder how they are going to spend Turkey Day, which is a week from this coming Thursday.
I do know this much: I am going to miss seeing the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We used to go there every year; it was just up the street. Guess I am going to have to watch it on tv this year; it won't be the same as being there live. There's just something about seeing all those marching bands and huge cartoon balloons that make it special; once you see it in person, it stays with you for the rest of your life.
Last year we went, and I saw many celebrities. David Militello and Kaitlyn Maher from "America's Got Talent". LeAnne Rimes. Macy Gray. Kristen Chenowith. Toby Keith. JayZ. Too many to mention; the rest of them meld together in my head. Saw a bunch of them! (Would have been nice if I got to meet some; I wouldn't have minded meeting JayZ or Macy Gray! :) Or David Militello; for some reason he reminds me a lot of my little foster brother! LOL)
I hope we have turkey and all the trimmin's! That'd be good; it will be nice to have Thanksgiving with my sisters again!
Maybe the next day we can go shopping, and I can take the little kids to see Santa Claus. Yep, the Christmas season is coming upon us like gangbusters; won't be long now ...
Guess I am going to have to change my nickname 'coz where I live now in Alabama, I don't have to worry for my life. I can go out until 11 at night and not worry about people carrying guns or knives. I can keep the front door unlocked if I want (though my foster dad does lock it up before we go to bed). I can wear my Raiders jacket and not worry about getting it ripped off or being accosted by rival gang members. I also don't have to worry about drug dealers hanging 'round every corner.
That was what I faced in the City; then Goon entered the picture, and with him around, I felt safe. He was over 7' tall, and he weighed well over 600 pounds; he was a big dude. Still is.
When Goon was by my side, nobody dared messing with me! :)
Now that I am here in Alabama, I miss Goon because he's still back in New York City. I wish we could get together again; maybe he will come down for Christmas to see me. That would be awesome!!
Well, I gotta get ready to go to school. Bus due to come in less than forty five minutes. I will write in here again; until later, this is Shawn signing off! Take care, and may God bless you always!
~Shawn. :)
