~Best Friends~
Mindy and Cory were very best friends. They were both in abusive relationships and tried to escape many times. Mindy’s husband was very violent. She finally got away and moved in with her parents. Everyone thought her husband was the nicest guy and would never hurt a fly. Mindy knew there was a chance that he would kill her if they were ever alone again.
Cory’s husband wasn’t physically abusive but extremely verbally abusive. He told her she could never leave him. She was locked inside of her home feeling alone and like a failure. Mindy had family near by and a job that paid the bills. Everyday when Mindy returned from work her estranged husband would be in front of her parent’s house waiting to put his hands on her. Mindy just wanted to be free from all the physical abuse so she could finally know what real love felt like.
She didn’t know what to do. If she divorced him he said he would kill her. Cory was trapped in a loveless marriage and had no way to escape. She had no money of her own and no family to escape to. The only thing that was good in their lives was the bond that they had with each other. They were very insecure and always hoping to find real love. One night they went out on the town and had every man want to talk to them. They were very beautiful and innocent.
Neither one had felt true passion before. When they walked into the restaurant they saw some old high school friends. Mindy had a crush on Sam and he was her first kiss in the ninth grade. When they locked eyes her heart started to beat loudly. Her neck started to get red with blotches everywhere. She hadn’t been that nervous since high school. Sam knew something was terribly wrong in Mindy’s life and decided to pull her away from the group so they could talk.
After Mindy told Sam what was going on in her life he became very angry! Mindy told Sam everything and Sam knew he had to help her get away from all the violence. They spent that night together and it was amazing. That was the first time Mindy had ever strayed and deeply afraid her husband would find out and kill them both. Sam’s best friend was also with them and wanted to know Cory’s story. He was shocked at the way she was treated and wanted to help her also.
The four of them were inseparable until one night Mindy’s husband followed her to meet Sam. He was hiding behind another table and watched his wife laugh and be happy. Rage was building up inside of him and he wanted to hurt someone. After seeing his wife with another man he decided it was time to do what she was very afraid he would do. If he couldn’t have her no one could.
The best friends knew there was a chance at being caught but couldn’t stop the love they were feeling. One night when Mindy’s parents were gone she had Sam spend the night with her. After he left that morning her estranged husband got into the house. That was the one day Mindy forgot to set the alarm. He stormed in and started screaming at Mindy! He had a gun and put it her mouth. After having his way with her he was ready to get down to business. No one would know he was in the house and it would look like a suicide. Her family knew she was deeply depressed and she talked about ending her life many times before.
When he was about to pull the trigger there was a knock on the door. After Mindy didn’t answer the door Cory knew something bad was happening and called the police. She played softball and happened to have her bat still in the car. When she walked in to the house it was very quiet. Cory looked everywhere and couldn’t find her best friend. The last place she looked was Mindy’s parent’s closet. Mindy’s husband had his hand over her mouth. Cory was so scared and didn’t know what to do.
He had a loaded gun and could kill her friend any minute. After a few minutes of trying to reason with him the police arrive and break down the door. Mindy was finally free. They took her estranged husband and he was locked up for life. If Cory hadn’t of stopped by to check on her best friend she wouldn’t be alive today. Sam took great care of Mindy and she was never abused again.
After everything went down Cory finally had the courage to escape her situation. She didn’t have much but she had her self worth. The two best friends never left each other’s side and lived happily ever after.
